800-950-5114. Non-US agents are, as of at least August 15, 2015, able to do debit card payments. If they resist, ask for a US agent.
Please do not report that debit payments do not work over the phone, they do! Hang up and call again (HUCA) until you get someone capable.

The same thing can be done in a Citi branch, but you do not swipe the debit card or enter any PIN, so it seems likely that the same cards do/don't work in branch as over the phone.
The name on the debit card must match the name on the account. You can be an authorized card holder (they'll ask the name of the primary). You can also pay off Citi Business credit cards (only attempted as primary cardholder). Limit of one payment per debit card per account per day.

Debit cards that work for paying Citi cards over the phone.

I called 4 times last month with reps from SD, KY and FL without a problem. Today, there were problems. Anybody else try to make a payment?

Those having problems this weekend: For how long have you been a card holder?

I did and was able to, if only something wasn't wrong with my US Bank Buxx address!

Got this explained to me. If you hold one of their elite cards, like Citi Prestige you'll most likely get a senior rep on the phone and they can process a debit card. If yer a card holder for their lower level cards, you'll most likely get a lower level rep and they can't process debit cards, but you can ask them to transfer you to a senior rep so they can process the payment.

Good to know

but also tenure with citi DOES matter you will probably get transferred to a senior rep (debatable) because you pay $450, where as I may call on my exec card or lower level cards and still will get the same senior rep

I was unable to make any payments on my platinum card every time I called in (about 8 times through out the week I first got it). Once I got my Exec card, I've had no problems.

I wonder if I'll still get transferred to the same reps if I cancel the Exec?

It seems obvious that the more in fees you pay, the higher the priority of your call. You're paying for it!

I think that people just want to know if age of account makes any difference, as people with the same card seem to have different experience on ease of getting a rep able to do a debit payment.

My suggestion for all who can't pay "low profile" cards - like Hilton, aa platinum, etc; but have no problem with "high profile" cards. I usually call to pay my Citi AA Elite MC (never had a problem); get a nice rep who process a payment in a second and then I ask him to pay another card (like Hilton Reserve). They ask for a card number (or last 4 digits) and process a payment. Simple and effective.

I agree and suggested this method quite a while back

FYI, at the time of my post, the wiki said something like "VGC does not work per one post, more data points needed." I then edited the wiki to make it more clear.
