Need to Spend $20,000+ but can't find enough great CC deals! Help!
Quick background.
My mom who lives in California just bought a house and need to spend $20,000-$30,000 on renovations and she had agree to accumulate mileages so I can use them
-She has great credits
-She does not have a business
Cards got so far:
1. Chase Sapphire - 40,000 points, Min. spend $3000
2. Starwood - 25,000 points, Min. spend $5000,
Total min. spend: $8,000
Card in process:
1. BA Visa Sigature - 50,000 Avios, min spend $2000
Cards rejected:
1. Citi Platinum Select - reason for decline, already have an AA card*
2. US airway - Same reason for #1
*Already called and asked but can not get approve.
So we have at least $10,000+ min spend to cover but I am having trouble sending my Mom CC deals.
I am living in Asia now, so short flights, flights to Europe and to US works best.
I am looking for deals that can give the most airline points (main focus) and hotel points.
Any suggestions on airline or hotel CC or other creatives ways to spend those $$ and get the greatest return of mileages/points?
Thank you so much for your feedback!
Brian

you don't have to have a business to have a business card...if asked you can say you buy and sell things on ebay or provide consultation for something...I'd get the ink bold

Get Ink Bold/Plus. Buy Home Depot/Lowes gift cards at OfficeMax or other office supply and use them to buy materials.
Get 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar. There are also Lowes/Home Depot coupons around. Google for that.

We've got a whole forum devoted to nothing but minting miles through creative spending. I'll move your thread there for further discussion.

If you want to apply for multiple CCs in a short period of time, do it all in one day. Do your research, prepare the applications and fire them off. Don't spread the applications over several weeks. Each application will post an inquiry on your credit report. After a few inquiries, it will be much harder to get a new credit until the inquiries fall off the report. The inquiries do not post in real time, usually batched until the next day, so you can get a bunch of applications in one day and they won't affect each other.
You may also want to warn your mom that she'll take a small hit on her credit score, but I am sure she'll be willing to do this sacrifice to see her baby more often
