This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA

$1.88 next day.

Then someone is doing it wrong or your Walmart stores are just programmed differently.

new software allows 4, plus cash at end.

Some older software versions definitely would not accept cash at the very end of a Bill Pay, and one is stuck with no method to pay any amount. So they have to use the key to cancel. Some older software versions seem to have never had that problem.

Rather than focusing on "old" VS "new", "different software versions" might be a better way to phrase it. And from April 2013 until now, quite a few stores use a software version that does not allow cash to be added at the very end of CFP transaction, forcing a manager to cancel the transaction with a Key.

Good to know the bold point. My walmart allows to add cash at the end. i usually do 1500 ( 3 swipes + 1.88 cash) . So now i hope i can do 2000 ( 4 swipes + 1.88 cash)

Another question to all u guys. Does walmart allows kroger money order as payment for these bill pays ? MOs are equivalent to cash. If it works then we may have easy way to liquidate OV cards, without the risk of depositing MO into banks.

Well, they are a paper, monetary instrument with a routing number and account number at the bottom.

No WM will allow it.

It depends upon the software version, but you wont know until you try. Or just do 1988.12 and not worry at all.

At my local WM, I saw someone cash out a WM issued MO. I even heard the csr say that if you have rhe original receipt, there are no fees.

Has anyone tried this?

There are lots of posts talking about how WM is not very friendly with OV anymore. Either OV doesn't work or at best you can load to serve and or get MO for 49.99 at a time.

Are you able to billpay upto $1500 using OV at WM? ( 3 swipes, 4 swipes you are talking about above)

Bill pay somehow goes through

So I attempted a $1998 checkfreepay at a Kroger (seems like exact same situation as WMBP except fee is $2.00 for Visa Next day). It was a failed attempt as the CSR said no GC's after I made my first swipe. He did let me do the first swipe and it was approved and then he got suspicious and asked to see the cards. So I said Just void the whole thing and he said he did and I left.

That was on Wednesday night. Late last night I saw a $1998 payment come through in my WF online account. Did the payment somehow go through even though I didn't actually pay for it? Or shall it be returned eventually and WF will assess a return payment fee?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

It happened to me before at WM and I called WM. They let me pay them back in MO so I went down to the store and drained 4 VGC. Fee waived, no less

EDIT: Sorry, to answer your question, they'll probably reach out to you soon seeing as how they got all your info typed into Checkfree. That money is not yours to keep and they'll make sure of that. Believe.

Yeah I figured a free 2k was too good to be true. So I essentially owe a debt to checkfree at this point I guess? And should I just wait for checkfree to contact me or better to be proactive and contact them?

I'm 100% sure Checkfree is gonna reverse the transaction. Wait 2-3 days and the payment is taken back.
