This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA

$1.88 next day.
Works:

I used to go to 5 Walmarts, now 2 have refused to accept GC's for MO's/Billpay. They ask to see the card prior to doing the transaction, once they see it's a GC, they refuse due to new policy at the store.

Even though I am always dressed in business clothes, offer to show ID, and always say please and thank you. I think they still become suspicious of regulars like me coming in with GC's week after week.

GC's have NEVER been officially allowed. If you're flashing GC's around, you're playing the game wrong.

I don't flash it at all. I always try to conceal them and not make it obvious. I always limit my Billpay to 2 x $1,998.12 transactions as well and only go once a week to each Walmart at most. Sometimes once every two weeks.

Are you showing a proper Debit card on top of the GC? I heard about that trick which is used to put them at ease if they look at the card while in your possession right before you swipe. It's just a little slight of hand. Then after a quick swipe, you put them both in your pocket.

If they demand to swipe it themselves, nothing much you can do.

To pay American Express card (Cash Back Everyday) at Walmart, which one should choose: Citi Bank American Express or Macy's American Express?

My local store's system shows these two options when the casher doing the search.
Not sure which one to use.

I know, it can be tough but, try giving the Wiki a read. It would help.

By definition, that's flashing GCs.

You then either:

* Give them the bank debit card, enter the wrong PIN, and when it fails, mention that it's been glitchy lately and the bank sez they’re working on it.

* Tell them the bank advised that you should never show you're account number to anyone else, and if they still insist, then move on.

I don't show anything but I always offer to show my driver's license. I'm always polite, dressed in business clothes, smile, and say please & thank you. I've gone at different hours to the same store and a different cashier has told me it's a new store policy. So they're just doing their job which I understand.

Sorry but if they request to see the card and I hand it over, that is not flashing, it's called cooperating.

flash - display (an image, words, or information) suddenly on a television or computer screen or electronic sign, typically briefly or repeatedly.

Doing a bill pay to my Chase card today, I was charged $1.50 using "Best Buy Chase" even though I specified 3-day delivery, and she repeated that response back to me. I'm guessing the cashier just made a mistake and gave me 1-day delivery. She struggled a bit to do the transaction (which isn't at all unusual at my Walmart). Is there any way to check what I have from the receipt? It does say "Best Buy -- Chase" so I'm pretty sure the money will get there -- sometime.

Ok Mr. Dictionary, how's that been workin' out for ya ?

I think they still become suspicious of regulars like me coming in with GC's week after week.
Because you're showing them your GCs !

Yikes.

You could look at how much you paid for processing.

I nevel flash/reveal/display/hand over a VGC. I have been asked before to hand it over so they can swipe on their side and I just hand them my bank debit card and then enter an invalid pin ("My wife just changed the PIN -- sorry, I'll come back later").

When asked why I only do $500 per swipe, I tell them by bank limits my debit card swipes to $500.
