I saw a flyer that 4X points starts in DFW on 11/20. I have abandoned Kroger since they stopped fuel points on variables a few weeks back, but I did a small test on a $100 card this week and it did work. Sitting tight until 11/20 and then plan on filling the coffers for the Xmas holiday. I hope like hell that my local stations are doing the 2000 fuel points for $2 off like previous postings.

There was a 4x promo on 11/9 around here. I received the points on $100. I also combined with $500 vVGC to get the 2x VISA GC purchase earns $5 coupon for a next shopping deal. Worked just fine.

4x promo starts 11/21 around here according to the Catalina coupon.

The 4X reward for gas is working for many gift cards at Safeway. However, VGC or MGC is NOT one of them! I tested it out and the points show up right away.

You got fuel points on the $500 vGC recently or only on the $100 vGC?

I filled up at a DFW area Kroger after I saw the $2 per gallon post and was only given the regular $1 off per gallon max.

You bought a $100 fixed card, not a variable load you put $100 on, right? The fixed amount cards never stopped earning fuel points, and you get points for the fee as well as the loaded amount, and whatever multiplier (2x or 4x) they are doing at the time instead of the 1x you used to get on variable load GC.

During 4x it can be worth buying the $100 fixed Visa GC, though it's a pain since they are issued by US Bank so you have to call to set a PIN. I personally earn fuel points buying merchant GC instead now because I have a way to use them that is better than the ~6% in fees for the $100 Visas. In my area Safeway is currently doing 4x but not Kroger. I will check back with Kroger to see when they start their pre-holiday 4x, but I stocked up at Safeway so I'm set for awhile. The one in my area is offering a $10 coupon on a $100 purchase of MC GC, and that $10 coupon can be used on purchases of merchant GC. It's supposed to be 1 per household but I have multiple Safeway cards in family members' names so I bought a MC GC and then used the coupon to buy $250 worth of merchant GC for $240 and get 1000 fuel points on each.

Saw that Central Kentucky Kroger stores are doing 4X gift cards that started on November 17th and also they are allowing up to 2000 points per fill-up. Saw some sign-age yesterday on that too in a different area Kroger!

Lucky duck! Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised to see the same sign at my store on Wed!

Thankfully the 2000 points on fuel started here the last week of October. I had about 4000 points accumulated in September from the Back to School 4X gift cards promo (saved up and unleashed on Lowes gift cards I was holding off on buying til 4X was in play again.. bought a storm door for the house and lumber to build a greenhouse). Anyhow I had all the points and was sweating the 2nd to last week of October sitting with 2003pts how I was going to store 70 gallons of gasoline as I ALWAYS take the 35-gallon point limit at the pump (20 gallon Toyota truck tank + 4 5-gallon jugs). My neighbor gave me a 30 gallon plastic barrel that appears to have held petroleum, but I was hesitant to pull up to the station with that thing in the back. Then luck would have it fuel was allowed at 2000 point redemption again. Shew!

How does Kroger make money on selling gift cards? Is there a back-ended thing where they get to collect interest off un-used amounts on cards?

Just noticed a QFC had a promo that offered $5 off your next shopping trip if you spent at least $50 on two Visa or MC Gift Cards (excluding variable). Offer expires today. Didn't see it in another QFC...not that it matters, cause for the life of me, I can't see how this is any better than just buying a $500 GC with a 1% back CC.

Today is first day of 4X fuel points at my local Kroger in DFW. Bought two cards at lunch and can confirm that I did get 4X points on purchase. Didn't see anything about allowing the redemption of 2K points on fill-up and I don't need gas today so not willing to try. Will give that a run this weekend.
