FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: CWAL
A new thread was created for the new year in 2017. This is the old thread. For the 2017 on this topic, go here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1819562-cvs-master-thread-2017-a.html

CVS is cash only for all Incomm-related reloads and reloadable cards, including Vanilla Reloads and Serve swipe reloads. See memo to stores for complete list. Other cards at CVS can still be bought using credit, but YMMV depending on location, Manager, etc.

New limits rolling out starting 10/20:
Transactions with $300 or more of card face value require ID.
Limit $2000 of card face value per 24 hour rolling period.
Limit of 10 cards per 24 hours.
Cashback posted in 48 hours.

Cash Register Freezing
Multiple reports that the CVS cash register will freeze and lock after scanning the ID when purchasing multiple prepaid cards. Then the register's computer needs to be restarted. Some report that "swiping" the ID instead of "scanning" will avoid the issue.

Limit of 7 tenders (swipes) per transaction. This is most commonly run into when using low-value AGCs. After seven, the transaction must be complete, no cash (or any other payment method) will be accepted to pay the balance.

Yeah, sure, just go to CVS, pick a card at random, put $500 on it. Then go to WM and have them spend half an hour trying to get a card that cant work to work. That way you have paid a fee to get a card you can't use. And you have annoyed the WM cashiers to the point that when the next person comes in with a GC to do BP, they just say "no GCs for BP".

That's a great plan, huh? Far better than spending 30 seconds to post an answer, or a link to the page that has the answer.

Who says you have to put $500 on a card to test it out? Also, all cards that you buy can be used as debit, just not necessarily to do what you want it to do (load Serve or BB at WM)...it is not like you are buying money you can't use.

I think the original question was ,"what is there left in CVS that we can buy (with cc) to load BB". The reply was "Yes".

I only see Vanilla brand gcs. Which are Bancorp, which are no good for BB.

I understand if it was a newbie question, but it's not a newbie question, and people are not asking to be spoon fed.

You added something that was not in OP's question.

My new favorite thing to do is to buy and liquidate products in store. It's YMMV but I have one store that is "full service."

Sorry to be exact:

"Is there anything left to buy at CVS to load BB"

How much does CVS charge for a money order? I read somewhere, the max $ is $300 per money order, I'm probably wrong.

A CVS manager once preemptively told me that they only sell MOs for cash. He's never had trouble selling me OVs, and it was funny when he told me the detail about MOs without prompting.

I went to CVS to do the "field work". I stood there and looked at all the Vanilla cards - and then all the cash only prepaid debit cards. I did not see any that could be bought with CC and unloaded at BB. If anyone knows of a card that can be bought with CC and unloaded at BB at CVS, I'd appreciate the info. I haven't been able to figure it out. I know I can buy OV and get MO but I prefer to drain at BB. I have other places but like CVS because you can buy in bulk.
Thanks

Right, so the "Yes" answers include, for example, VR, which now you will have no problem finding, the racks are full of them for some reason!

Just so you know, Silver delights in posting absurd things. One of his favorites is that you can buy VR at CVS to load BB. How? By paying cash for the VRs. Just really hilarious stuff, isn't it?

By the way, if you look at the left side of the thread, and then click on the name of the poster, it gives you the option to "ignore" all posts from that person. Something to think about, isn't it?

I did the same about 30 minutes ago. I couldn't find anything that what work, but it did make me sad to see my old friends VRs. I don't normally see them because they're on the other side of the rack from the OVs. I just went with OVs and then headed to my local MO purchasing location.

There are no cards that you can buy at CVS with a credit card that can be loaded to Bluebird at Walmart.
