A new thread was created for the new year in 2017. This is the old thread. For the 2017 on this topic, go here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1819562-cvs-master-thread-2017-a.html
CVS is cash only for all Incomm-related reloads and reloadable cards, including Vanilla Reloads and Serve swipe reloads. See memo to stores for complete list. Other cards at CVS can still be bought using credit, but YMMV depending on location, Manager, etc.
New limits rolling out starting 10/20:
Transactions with $300 or more of card face value require ID.
Limit $2000 of card face value per 24 hour rolling period.
Limit of 10 cards per 24 hours.
Cashback posted in 48 hours.
Cash Register Freezing
Multiple reports that the CVS cash register will freeze and lock after scanning the ID when purchasing multiple prepaid cards. Then the register's computer needs to be restarted. Some report that "swiping" the ID instead of "scanning" will avoid the issue.
Limit of 7 tenders (swipes) per transaction. This is most commonly run into when using low-value AGCs. After seven, the transaction must be complete, no cash (or any other payment method) will be accepted to pay the balance.

At least two banks, both beginning with "C", have offers fairly frequently:
5% off gas, groceries and drug stores for 90 days.
And, if you open in a branch, they add an additional 5% off (and it clearly states "for a total of 10% off) for the same 90 days. My wife got one about a month ago.

To avoid PMs, here is one of the cards with just the 5%:
http://www.citizensbank.com/cards-an...astercard.aspx
and the EXPIRED 10% offer, which requires opening a checking account. (My wife's recent offer didn't require this)

I think this was the other card:
http://www.charterone.com/cards-and-...astercard.aspx
But I don't see anything online for the extra 5% - but I believe sometime in April i remember reading posts about the 5% for in bank.
Can anyone confirm:
a) That any current offers still exist and
b) That anyone has gotten one of these, churned it, and have gotten their CB with no cap?
lol...I just realized looking at your links...Chartered and Citizens...are they the same bank?

Be aware that they may "don't do business in your state"

Yet they did a hard pull on me -- and refuse to remove.

Citizens and charter are the same bank.
I had this card and it worked but there are many caveats.
1) the gig is for 90 days. They start counting when they mail you the card not when you activate so its about 82 days at best.
2) paying them is hard. You cant really push money in so easily and balances dont show up for days to even pay. if you have a bank acct with them it can go faster but still, this cuts into the days.
3) they cut the CB checks at $300 a month max. So you have to keep your card open forever to keep getting CB you earned now. If you close it you lose.
4) if you do a lot of money order deposits into your citizens bank, stop it now. ORRRRRR if you earn "too many" CB from them in their eyes, then you need to be careful. They will use THIS as a means to close your bank acct for fraud concerns or something obscure like security risk and then you lose your CC too. Guess what that means: You sue them in SC and eventually get your money back. Sound familiar? Why do you think I know all about that in the citi thread?
5) the T&Cs do not forbid the buying of GCs so far. Another friend just got this card HOPING to have to sue them but he has spent $30k so far. He has been getting his checks and figures he will get them for the rest of his days lol--just cant close the CC.

I bought to Beans last night at CVS, and Bank of America denied one of my transactions.
I called bank of America to yell at them because I have already called them and let them know that I use my card for large purchases. I wasn't pleased.
On a side note, the cashier finally recognized me today. She asked me what I bought the cards for. I told her I need them for a prepaid product and that I can get some points every now and then. I'm happy that, for the most part, this store has been great to deal with. WalGreen's is missing out on business. It's a shame too, because WalGreens is closer to me.
