What we know so far, that we are happy to share, and won't get the hump when other people ask us or other people get the hump cos we know something they don't.

3V / Pay.com cards are no more

That is all.

I think I have found a new way to manufacture spend on Visa / Mastercard with £0 outlay.

http://stpancras.com/giftcard/

£1000 max per transaction and you can collect the card for free, or £3 delivery.

Payment options are EMV only - no Amex.

The gift card is a Maestro, which is NS&I compatible.

Untested, but I think the theory works?

Interesting.

I'd be willing to throw £20 at this the next time I'm down that way.

If it works, £3 for delivery is okay for a £1000 but being limited to visa/mc reduces the earning potential. As luck would have it I'm going through STP next weekend to make use of the Amex/Melia free night so will gives this a go.

Looks like this can be picked up from a shopping mall near you....

There was a post on Headforpoints about this one - see http://www.headforpoints.com/2013/05...-spend-expert/

The poster talks of several schemes he has tried and which were then closed. It is not clear to me if this one is still a goer. Hope so

Service Announcement: NS&I are offline for the weekend for "maintenance work".

Being a pessimist I always assume that this will mean that 3V cards will no longer be valid. Has anyone found another method to cash out 3Vs should this avenue be closed?

Council Tax took by 3V without problem (LB Richmond)
Npower also take 3V.

Both without any problem

If I get bored during the week I'll pop down and take a look too.
£20 isn't too bad as I can use that at a coffee shop if NS&I is a no go, although it does state " at participating retailers within St Pancras International"

When I said "cash out" I meant 3V to <NS&I alternative> to current account. Paying bills is just redirected spend, buying Amex gift cards is offset spend, both of which are fine if you need a way to meet a minimum spend.

It's looking more likely that 3V is an ongoing proposition (regular restocking, recent date codes on cards, etc), so need to ensure that there is a ongoing cash out method. The 3v cards I buy in a month would cover my annual bills and then some

Ah ok.
Whilst down here, the last time I saw a 3V card was well over a month ago.

I'm sure there's a some kind of karmic correlation between 3V availability in the north and Amex offers in the south

Hmmm - I'd rather have the 3V, as I really couldn't care less about getting a free glass of champagne at some arty-farty portrait gallery.

From earlier recommendations I'm trying out the Kinoni scanner, it seems to be working OK except that it adds extraneous numbers on before the number actually printed on the cards.
Does anyone have any ideas how to just print the numbers on the cards?

Thanks.

scan it into an excel spread sheet, create a second column using this formula =RIGHT(A1,19) and then cut and paste from the calculated column.
