Citi Cards and Vanilla Reloads

Hello FT's. I am barely getting into the game but been a lurker for a while now so please be gentle. I was wondering if anyone knows how Citi applies Vanilla Reloads purchased at a CVS? Do they consider them a cash advance? Thanks

From what I have read here in FT, Citi doesn't apply VR purchase at CVS as cash advance. I am not even sure, how they can even track that down.
I had got a Citi Card recently and purchased a few VR's, will know for sure when my statement closes..

Fwiw, I've used my Citi AA to get VRs and they WERE NOT considered cash advance.

+1, no problem on several different AA cards. Did trigger a fraud alert on one though.

I use my CitiAAdvantage Business Mastercard all the time. It just shows up on your CC statement as a CVS purchase. The same way it would show up if you were buying shampoo, milk, candy, aspirin, cough/cold medicine, cosmetics, magazines, greeting cards, or any of the other things that CVS sells!

Are you getting a cash advance or buying something?

+2. Same here.

No, it's a regular purchase. They don't know what you're buying, only where you're buying it from.

Depending on how frequently you use your card for large purchases, it may trigger a fraud alert, but you just have to call and confirm you made the purchases.

Anyone know of anybody getting Financial Reviews from AMEX for CVS games?

PainCorp Feb 22, 2013 9:13 pm

This ALL belongs in the existing VR thread.

Yes. Multiple reports in the big FR thread in the Amex subforum.

I'm having trouble finding value in the Citi Visa card apart from sign up bonuses and the AAdvantage 10% renewal bonus. Are you just trying to meet minimum spend?

Ooh if I was you, I'd just keep that Amex card far away from CVS.

This site has other subforums? I think you're mistaken. ;)
