Not to doubt it, but later added that they were pulled due to "IRS issues (biz owners paying employees with prepaids to avoid taxes)". What does OD care about what people do with the prepaids after they are purchased? Once they are sold it does not matter to OD what is done with them. If fraud is being perpetrated on OD, that is different. It sounds as though someone is being fed a line of bad info.

Got another reload today at my local CVS, a bit of back and forth with clerk as to whether credit card was allowed (both times), but manager said it was definitely allowed with "the new ones". Manager/clerk different both times, the second seemed to think it would be cash only eventually.
They had something like 50-70 Friday, probably 30 or less Saturday. I wouldn't doubt if some people will start taking the unactivated cards to OD. I was just happy enough to get two to easily pay lawn service/daycare with a CC to meet min. spends. Oddly enough, the full rack of PayPal cards on Friday were completely gone Saturday. Am I missing something there?

Can any Walmart register load money onto your BB or is there a kiosk or what? I'm not as ambitious as everyone else and plan to use an AS miles debit to load it for bill pay to pay my rent and car and that's it. Only 21k miles per year, but better than nothing...

I literally just walked out of a OD in the midwest that was fully stocked.

Any check out register can load it, but not every cashier knows how to do it. I've had much better luck at the Wal-Mart Money Center.

I will defend bloggers in distributing info freely, but I won't necessarily join in pure spoon feeding. Teach a man (or girl, in your case) to fish etc. Just think of the structure of the BB deal - using some form of load card to add funds to a prepaid card that can have said funds unloaded easily via BillPay - and then look for alternatives in the gift card rack. There are many other ways to skin the same cat. That is why for me BB is only relevant for Office Depot purchases. I have plenty of other ways to manufacture spend at grocery and drugstores that are not being abused to the same degree.

I think it is a store by store decision as to whether to carry the reloads or not.

Honest, I try to do my homework here. . .
I've read a good portion of this thread, the Member Agreement, Consent Agreement, etc. for the BB (oh gag that was fun). Load cards are a new concept for me since BB came out. I'm still not sure of their purpose in the chain of things. I've done a little bit of searching to find out how/why they came into production but with all the BB reading I'm behind in my Load Card 101 class. Lead me to it and I'll do the reading.
Edit to say I found the details I was looking for explaining reload/prepaid cards:

Just an FYI... I've been to 2 different OD's where they had zero reloads up front where all of the other gift cards are but both of the stores had smaller end caps down an aisle in the middle of the store with probably 30+ hanging there and fully stocked.
