It looks like WF has started to pay a close attention to new accounts. I ordered today a second card and few hours later got e-mail from them that they need additional info (DL with ID and W-2).

Well, I'd just done a max funding when the news about WF coming down on these cards came out. I've had a good couple of days, draining about half of the funds in 2 days. I've also been swiping for regular spend and running it as credit, figuring that might keep it open longer.

I think I've decided $2k is my capacity for a balance for a shut down, so I'm pretty relieved to have drained it down to about that. I really hit this hard, and we have 3 cards in the family, with pretty much nothing by MO purchases and ATM and all 3 cards still seem to be open. Since I'm a prime candidate for a shut down, I just thought I'd give a data point to make clear they haven't caught everyone yet. Maybe there's some hope that, having announced the changes as of May 1, they are just going to let us keep going for another few weeks.

To be fair, I don't put this one on blogs. The last time anyone reported it was in 2012 ... I feel like this was just the normal life cycle of the deal. Surely WF had to notice tons of $2500 and $2000 loads from outside accounts for only $5 (certainly not enough to cover the transaction fees) and saw they were losing money.
