For me it was a call to my CC and CFPB complaint. ~2 weeks later money + apology letter from some VP.

I'm sure small claims would work too but isn't that more time consuming and something to be done if all else fails?

Right after making the CFB report I called WF for an update and to let them know that I made the report and to please notate my account and notify a supervisor. She still had no update on my check.

Received a call 20 minutes later from someone about my prepaid card and he said the check was mailed the 16th and I'd receive it in 7-10 business days, so at the latest the 30th of August.

Weird that it was supposedly sent 7 days ago and they hadn't told me?
Hoping the complaint had something to do with it, but regardless. I just want my check, haha.

Id say waiting several months is a fail

Again, you simply file and pay the court fee. Wf will settle before it gets heard (and ask you to contact the court to cancel the case) and theyll incl the fee you paid in their settlement check.

If you go fwd and take em to court then yes it costs you a day.

Just missed a call and got a voicemail from the Wells Fargo ATM Executive Office "about my complaint to the cfb". Wow, they pass those along quickly!

So you guys had been sitting on this card the whole time, and they never shut you down?

Technically, it's still a viable product for a short while longer:

Wells Fargo will be discontinuing the Wells Fargo Prepaid Card. Effective January 16, 2014, you may no longer load funds to an existing Wells Fargo Prepaid Card(s). Effective February 4, 2014, Wells Fargo will officially discontinue the Wells Fargo Prepaid Card. This means you will not be able to use your Wells Fargo Prepaid Card after February 4, 2014, and all funds remaining on your card will be refunded by check to the primary cardholder and mailed to the address on file on or before March 18, 2014. In the meantime, you may continue to access your account information at www.wellsfargo.com/prepaidcard or call Customer Service at 1-866-360-2857 with any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. Thank you for choosing Wells Fargo.

I'm jealous, this was a great card while it lasted. I guess the folks still using it must have been loading w/ WF CCs. Loading with other cards was supposedly eliminated long ago.

I just was lazy and never cancelled. No balance == no fee.

I've been loading from my WF CC so am sad to see it go (4500 points/mo. through WF Rewards Program). On the bright side, at least I don't have to worry about unloading the last $5k in Feb.
