Not true. I received a check for the balance on my account.
edit: IIRC, I was closed the day I loaded but I got in an ATM before they shut me down. Only think I can speculate is they will refund to the CC if the entire load amount is there but a partial get sent via check?

All six cards are shut down and log'ins blocked but 2 credited back to CC's since so far that had partial use of the funds.

I just loaded $2500. I'll see how it goes. I deleted the funding card right after the load. If I get shut down I would rather get a check. I have only done one ATM withdrawal, the rest have been Walmart mo for odd amounts real close to $600, been going about 3 months.

loaded on 22rd and got the same email but could not login since then, charge not reversed, no suspended email yet, done nothing..., wait or call 1-800...?

I also got the refund to my cc. I have two funding cards, had loaded with funding card#2, refund went back to #1. Does not make a difference. Got the funding amount back, but they did not refund the $5 fee.
I guess the best strategy is fund it and immediately go to ATM or get MO. Or you can also fund, erase both funding cards and add a debit card, maybe you get the refund to your checking account!

The last couple of times my wife and I have loaded we have loaded 2k or 2.5k. Last time was yesterday and unfortunately the last, but w have loaded and immediately went to Walmart and unloaded via MO's all at once, well seperate charges of $500+remainder and $500+remainder to empty completely with 2-3 MO's. Time from load to empty was always less than 15 minutes and have not had any problems.

Went to open an account for SO (and likely go out in a blaze of glory, and was met with:
"At this time, we are not opening new Wells Fargo Prepaid Cards; however, existing customers may continue to fund and use their cards."

Ok, now it's time to close this card. What is the best way to get funds back? I have $4300 on card. Tomorrow I will be charged $3 monthly fee. I called them to close the card today and they told me that $8 will be charged for mailing me refund check.
I can withdraw fund through ATM, but it will take time and almost the same fee.
Any other ideas?
