Why do you care? It would pull the 1003 off the card, and you'd have 997 left on the AGC. The next time you load it would drain the remaining 997 and prompt you to pay $6 (assuming a 1k load).

I will try to by an AFT later today. This will be the 3rd try with my New Citi Hilton Reserve. I was already declined and had to call the fraud dept twice. Both times were 503.00. I will try for 503.00 one more time. If that doesn't work, then 497.00 next time.

Also the part about the cashier or manager not knowing how to load the card is true. I went to one target, nobody knew what it was. Even a manager that has been there for 3 decades.

I think stores that has a lot of them in stock would know how to do load them, and they do not need a special register. I just went to any register.

It is not that hard to load them. Just walk them through it and it is pretty self explanatory. First you swipe the AFT. Then you enter the amount to load...

Just thought I would throw in my story on here. My wife went in to load 1K on her card. She didn't realize you couldn't use a Target gift(it was her first time loading after the initial purchase) the guy told her she couldn't use it but said he would waive the load fee for her. I don't know if anyone else has ran in to this but this one was one of those things I figured was just automatic and couldn't be waved.

I can add it.

Hah. Thanks. Those things are a bit silly. Just because some of us are a bit quiet.

Ah well. I guess it keeps the vandalism to a minimum.

thanks for all the help!

Thank you to whoever wrote the great wiki and to all who contributed their expertise.
Also, thank you to the person who suggested looking for a fee free ATM - yes! And it's near my Target.
Regarding finding a Target thAt carries AFT, their website has listings of store by state. It's not very well laid out, but a little time with Google maps and you hopefully can find one close by. It's better than driving around b/c even if you know they're supposed to be there, they're still hard to find.
This is definitely more work than VR from my CVS a mile from my house but I had just got some new cards needing min spend.
The other downside is that I feel guilty now for not visiting the CVS cashiers I used to chat with regularly, haha. I was kind of like Norm in Cheers.

cheaper for me than VR, assuming 1x at CVS. I would do 5 withdrawls over two months. I have wawa gas stations that offer free atm withdrawls. so 2 free, leaves 3x3=9, loads cost 2x3=6, 9+6=15

15<3.95x4 (CVS VRx4)

I did plenty of VR buying at CVS for 5x but I kept the costs down on my AFTs

Nice, but 2k in 2 month is quite small comparing to what some ppl want to do ;)

I take it this is a no?

djtsukasa Apr 8, 14 1:23 pm

SoCal loaded with AFTs..... convenient that I live 2 minutes walking from a target here!! CCs see a bunch of target charges, so not strange to issuers that I get some big spends there also.

AFT with AP is great for the ultra conservative Mser.

Umm... So what happened? Was the fee waived?

Does this:

Day 1: Purchase card #1, load $500
Day 3: Purchase card #2, load $500; Load card #1 ($1500)
Day 5: load card #1 ($2500); load card #2 ($1500)
Day 7: load card #2 ($2500)

Mean this:

Day 1: Purchase card #1, load $500 (Bal $500) ($3 fee)
Day 3: Purchase card #2, load $500 (Bal $500); load $1000 to Card #1 (balance $1500) ($3+$3 fee)
Day 5: Load Card #1 $1000 (Bal $2500); Load Card #2 $100 (balance $1500) ($3+$3 fee)
Day 7: Load $1000 Card #2 (Bal $2500) ($3 fee)

2 Cards - $5000 MAX AMOUNT in 7 days; paid $18 in fees to load, 4 trips to Target

Okay..

Does this:

Unload via ATM
Max $400/card/day
First ATM w/d per month per card is free, based on 1st of the month (not rolling)+ any ATM owner fee.
Additional ATM w/d fee $3 + ATM fee.

Mean this:

First withdrawal Free plus (Lets use Costco $2 fee for ATM):

Starting Balance $5000
-$400 ($2 fee) (Bal $4598)(Yours $400)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $4193)(Yours $800)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $3788)(Yours $1200)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $3388)(Yours $1600)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $2983)(Yours $2000)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $2578)(Yours $2400)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $2173)(Yours $2800)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $1768)(Yours $3200)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $1363)(Yours $3600)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $958)(Yours $4000)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $648)(Yours $4400)
-$400+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($405) (Balance $148)(Yours $4800)
-$243+$3 Fee+$2 Fee ($243) (Balance $0)(Yours $4943)

Total Fee for 5K = $18 to load + $57 to unload = $75

Also equals schlepping to Target every other day for a week, which is not convenient for a lot of people. If you can wrap TGT trip into adventures into other establishments, becomes a bit more bearable....
