Have $500 worth of coins on backorder. Will be interesting to see if they ship or cancel my order.

From what the Mint said in the email, sounds like they'll cancel.
"If you currently have an open $1 coin Direct Ship order placed with the United States Mint, that order will be cancelled. Please resubmit your order by wire transfer, check or money order using the order form."

That's a shame. Now I have a $500 Amex GC to burn through.

The paltry 500 miles I received was just enough motivation to participate in your program.

I don't do checks and I am not wasting my time going to get a money order just to have pocket change.

Dear Gamecock,

Since you're posting in a thread with some of the said "chronic abusers" of this program, as it was intended - you have them to thank for eventually ruining the program for those of us who did have altruistic intentions.

Do you really see the US Mint as the enemy here? Sheeeesh.

Dear US Mint,

Thank you for sending me to some very fancy hotels on my honeymoon! With fond memories, I still carry shiny gold coins with me where ever I go. With love.

Dear mint,
You can thank me for explaining to 1000s of people that the coins are real money. We gave them out as change at a farmers market and most everyone thought it was some kind of market money.

I just started this U.S. Mint buying last month......i am leaving my one and only order left that I purchased online on July 15, 2011 and waiting for processing to complete.

Since it says it started July 20,2011, does this mean my order won't be cancelled? I have not received the order yet nor have I had any authorization charge on credit card

The Mint stopped accepting Amex GC for $1 coin orders a while back, so your order would not have gone through anyway.

^^

The idea wasn't to buy the coins to lug them straight back to the bank again.
