Oh, I dunno about that. My grocery list has been skyrocketing. I'm buying nonperishable comfort food to console myself with the loss of the mint.

Huh? Us ants has gotta do what us ants has gotta do! So long as the opportunity presented offers no legal or ethical dilema. The mint opportunity offered neither. AMEX could find no fault with me during my FR but said they didn't like my business model. So I changed it to a more profitable model.
Had the mint not liked my business model they could have mailed me a play nice letter.

I take offense to the work “trick”.

I think I'm still in a state of shock & denial about the loss of this program.
We all knew it would end eventually, but not even a warning date, like the end of the Savings Bonds program, to ease the shock a little!
Great hotels, more flights, 2 for 1 coupons, those coins brought in the bonuses!!
I had to open more bank accounts, borrow an old luggage trolley to wheel them around, and put up with lots of complaints, stares & backtalk to use the coins, plus all those hours waiting for UPS.
It's a sad sad day.

This thread is following the classic typical stages of a breakup

1. Denial - "my last order will be fulfilled", "the cc ordering will come back", "this is just temporary until they get more coins in stock"

2. Anger/resentment- "the mint used us to get rid of excess inventory, now that they don't need us anymore they're stopping the cc ordering", "it was others that caused this to stop, i was only ordering 10k/month", "don't donate anything to NPR, it's all their fault"

3. Bargaining - "maybe they will reduce it to $500 every 10 days", "do you think they'll bring it back with more strict controls on who can buy?", "if it comes back i'll only order $250/month, i promise"

Next up: 4. Depression and 5. Acceptance

How do credit card cash advances work at a casino? I'd pay a fee if it means my cash translates to miles. What kind of fees do they charge? Do they count for miles?

I'm pretty sure that credit card companies will charge a really low fee to give a cash advance at a casino. They really value customers who will gamble money with the line of credit they've extended to their customer.

Are you talking about the Schwab 2% cash back VISA? FIA, who issued the Schwab card, also has a 2% cash back Fidelity AMEX, and a 1.5% cash back Fidelity Visa.

All I can say about any of those 3 cards is

In absolute numbers perhaps, but because there are more cash back card users than FFM card ones. And I'm using FFMs in the "broad" sense where it includes hotels and other point/non-cash rewards.

If you normalize the data, total charged in class/users in class, I'm not so sure it would be as lop sided.

If it is not illegal, then it is not a "clear abuse" or "misuse" of money. In fact the US Government's statement at the Mint is discriminatory (in my opinion). By claiming that one CC gives a return by using it legally when others do not give a return, but can be used equally legal; therefore the determination is that the entire program must be canned. That is obviously not the real reason why this statement appears.

They did not "cancel" any part of the program. As they've done before, they modified it.

They never claimed there was "clear abuse" or "misuse" of money. Read their statement, they're asserting abuse of the program, which is the selling of rolls of golden dollars at face value.
