I hope china is good. Enjoy it and the experience.

In the mean time i have a question for this thread...

If i started a mm philosophy of mile and point thinking blog and it basically hit on all the very same stuff weve just said in the last few pages of this thread, would you all read it and let me quote, lift, borrow or loosely paraphrase things we talk about plus my own rant as its main theme content?

Oh sure there could also be fm-like cool tips on gcs or cc ideas and which atms work, and mommy point like ideas on what i think the best devices are to use for little kids entertainment on long flights, and even some links to decent deals on airlines like other blogs may have, including the occasional pictures of food or fat tourists at the beach or something...

But mostly it would talk about what ifs, pitfalls, lessons learned, fraud security and compliance myths and facts, etc

Thoughts on this welcomed

I figure hey im in here a ton sharing mile ideas and tidbits so why not make some cc referral money on it and still not out the golden nuggets!

Getting spending up without the Mint

I'll post this here as well:

Ok I'm at OD right now. Bad, bad news. Someone just called (within 10 minutes of opening time) and the person said "We don't carry that product anymore." The guy then went into detail with a co worker about how they weren't carrying reloads anymore. They will be carrying a different Amex Prepaid apparently, but max load with a debit or credit card is $200. The Amex Prepaid and Bean section is cleared out, all price tags removed, all product removed, and replaced with blank white placards. I'll take a picture with my phone and I'll try to post it when I get home.

I'd click on your links if you PM me secrets.

You are a prolific writer so you would have no problem coming up with content. While at times I think you are "losing it" when reading some of your rants, at other times I think you are the most interesting man in the world.

I vote yes for Marathon Man blog.

sadly one more datapoint: my local ice cream shop has opted out of the vanilla business after overwhelming demand. shelves cleared, price tags removed, and other inventory in its place. staff asserted they will not be carrying it any more. been calling around and getting the same story. so much for my favorite flavor

Walgreens is now cash only, no thanks. Beanie Babies were in stock in 2 out of 3 visits in the past 2 days at my local Old Dominions. ID required w/ management present but no other issues.

I don't claim to know much in the grand scheme of miles and points overall but I did post that a manager at OD told me (yup in person) that they lose money on those beans do to the cc fees. So has anyone else seen them die or only 2 so far

Multiple reports in the other thread now: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...t-card-52.html

Stinks because it was the first time I finally got a chance to take my Ink card to find the beans and the field has been scorched

Yep- I'm dead. Mrs. UNHBuzzard just went for one last batch on case rumors were true... And they are. I blame the circles & arrows.

Just went to every OD in the MSP area. All of them are out with no plan on getting more except the one in Burnsville which had 4 left. I bought them all of course, so now all of MSP is dead. On to the next opportunity for me...

Same here. was at OD this morning and saw a stash. Joy knew no bounds and took a handful to the register. The associate there rung up and everything and out of the blue, she called her manager. Apparently, she was a trainee and wanted some brownie points for ringing up the transaction without help. Needless to say, the manager came by and said he saw there was a corporate notice about the beans and went to fetch it. he showed it to me...all bean cards to be pulled out and replaced with Amex pre paid. I showed him my pre paid and asked him how am I supposed to load it if they dont sell beans since I dont have much cash. The poor manager apologized profusely and said he had no clue and wished me luck...sigh sigh sigh. all those beans on the rack.....Bye Bye beans
