1. At least 2yr+ for my account
2. Usually 2~3 payments per month by using bank-linked funds
3. first time use CC-linked payment (not ACG)
4. My friend's account is a new one, < 2 months

This morning received a message from Venmo asking for pictures for my CC / account statement to prove that I'm the valid card holder.

So, what's the problem??? I'm sure you have access to the account, right??

Venmo blocked both mine & wife's account. They are asking for CC and bank statement copy used to pay & transfer the money. I transferred close to $2500 back n forth using Agc before getting blocked. Now, i am left with $1000 in Agc. I would advice caution and not recommend venmo for heavy hitting.

You were making it way too easy for them..

I would advise not transferring from one account, to the other, and back. Once you've gotten it to the "other" account, why not use a separate transfer option. Bank withdrawal, bank transfer, physical check, etc. A handful of options, any of which are better than what it sounds like you did. You made it blatantly obvious that you're trying to manipulate their system. Why would anyone transfer $2500 to someone, only to have them transfer $2500 back, if using legitimately? You could try to argue that transferring $2500 was an accident, but I doubt they'd buy it...most people don't make mistakes when it comes to those dollar amounts.

My account was locked after I sent out payments by using AMEX credit card (not ACG). The point is Venmo is extremely sensitive to AMEX-related payment now (including both CC and GC). It seems like their system will automatically flag the transactions related to AMEX CC/GC. Their account specialist partially confirmed this mechanism with me in the chat.

During the unlock process, Venmo asked for the photo of my card, including the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits of the card number.

I guess they are trying to find a way to stop the ACG loophole.

I think they might have already, yesterday a 3% fee red sign showed up when I tried to send 2994.5 to my wife.

I think I may have seen that when I did mine, but it doesn't end up charging it. I could be misremembering things, though. You could try to send that amount, right? Assuming it charges a 3% fee, that would exceed the balance on the card and it wouldn't go through...

I ended up liquidating the card by purchasing VGCs at GCM and OD and making a cash profit.

I just loaded an amex card that had $312 on it to Venmo. AMEX secure pay card so be exact (I'm new to this so not sure if these are treated differently than other amex gift cards). Bought Yesterday.

Sent $312 immediately to a relative where it went through smooth without any 3% fee added. Went on to check the balance online and everything looks normal. Tempted to go buy the $3k amex gift card and unload that. Others still having troubles?

Also, did not even get the 3% red fee sign that others have said they see.

You guys are brazen! I'm impressed!

-Venmo has a history of shutting people down

-Venom (sp?) is owned by PayPal

-You guys wouldn't mind collateral PayPal damage?

Go to town!

A month ago my dad sent me money through venmo, I deposited it to my checking and then sent him it back through paypal a week after. I didn't know what he wanted at the time (found out later he was testing out some MS stratagies) but he just asked me to do it and I did it. Worked fine. I use venmo regulary, almost weekly with friends, phone bills, etc.

Just some data points for everyone.

I've cashed out $1100 of my $3k amex card so far. Sending random amounts every few days to my sister. She'll deposit it in her bank and transfer the funds to my bank account (same bank).

wonder how much longer until this is shut down completely... :( i hope it lasts.

Eventually they shutdown anyone for MS. This is not long term deal. When they do they freeze your money for months.

SO finished minimum spend on the CSR by purchasing $1k AGC

We both are regular Venm0 users, so I loaded the AGC to my account and sent her two payments, $6XX and $3XX, back to back. Funds already pulled back into her bank account. No issues.
