When Does Elite Membership Start
 

Hello Everyone - If I have earned >100 elite points by next week to earn Enrich Platinum, does anyone know when the timer starts for the requalification process ?

Would it start December 2023 or January 2024 ?

if you earned Platinum tomorrow, you would have Platinum for the rest of the current year, all of next year and a 3 months bonus in 2025. I.e you will have Platinum status until end of March 2025.

Your Elite Points will reset to 0 from 1st Jan 2024 and you will have CY2024 to earn 100 points to maintain your Platinum status beyond March 2025.

There is a soft landing so if you get 0 points in 2024 you would still end up in Enrich Gold (so OneWorld Sapphire rather than OneWorld Emerald) and continue to get lounge access

On your current status upgrade, track it to ensure it clears this year, the necessary sectors get posted / included in the eligibility calculation before 31 Dec.

Sometimes there is a delay of a few days or weeks, particularly when flown on partner (OW & non-OW) airlines, and possibly even asking for manual intervention; best not to leave it until next year for them to retroactively work on it.

Just exploring the Enrich program. I've been getting conflicting information from MH's call centre and whilst the broader T&Cs of the Enrich program are broadly well written, I can't seem to find an exact answer.

1. I understand MH's earning year is from January to December every year. If I were to earn the require Elite Points/Tier Points to get Platinum status, say for example by August 2025, how long would my Platinum status valid for? The call centre suggests it would be 1 year from the point of qualification but the comments in this thread suggest otherwise and I haven't found a clear answer in writing on their website (please do send me a link in case I've missed it)
2. I understand the various thresholds for earning status, however are there are any requirements that a certain portion of Elite Points/Tier Points must be earned through MH flights?
3. I understand a complimentary Companion Platinum Card is given, what would be the validity of this? Also I see it states it must be a "legal spouse", "sibling" or "parent" and that documentary evidence would be needed. Just curious what sort of evidence they ask for particularly if it's a sibling who doesn't have the same surname? What about co-habiting/non-married partners/couples and their approach to LGBT couples? Appreciate latter might be quite niche, but just wondered if there were any first hand insights/experiences

No first hand experience and was asking myself the same questions. The definition in their T&Cs is "A companion is the legal spouse (husband or wife), the parent (father or mother), the sibling (brother or sister) or the one (01) child (son or daughter) children of the Principal Platinum Member. " That seems to me pretty restrictive. As to LGBT couples, let us not forget that Malaysia is not exactly renowned for its LGBT-friendliness, at any rate as far as the legal environment and officialdom are concerned.

1. Remainder of current calendar year + 15 months i.e. if you qualified now you remain elite to 31 Mar 2027.

3. They want docs e.g. my marriage cert when I nominated my wife.My wife's Plat has the same validity as me.

Thank you very much that's helpful. I guess that means non-married couples are rules out. My sibling has a different surname and address to me so I'm just trying to see what documents they might ask should I wish to add my sibling as the nominated Platinum...
Also in your experience, how are partner credits to MH? Are they fairly consistent or is there a lot of missing miles claims one has to brace themselves for? Lots of reports of MH flights not posting to partners but wasn't sure what the situation was the other way round.

Let's just say their systems aren't the greatest. However they are eventually responsive.

Ok it's reassuring that they are responsive in the end. Is the Platinum phone line genuinely of good quality and helpful compared to the normal MH line (which I have had mixed experiences with in the past)?
Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to decide whether or not I should commit to MH Enrich for earning status going forward or look towards another oneworld program.

I find the elite points accumulation easier to say CX, considering I can book discounted rates and yet get the same amount of elite points .

Given BA culling of their elites this week, Enrich has been looked into particular for those of us in Asia.

Forget LGBTS etc - it's illegal and so are items promoting it. Based on this there its little chance of it working but no harm in trying.

Well it can sort of be done if the L/G couple shares the same surname but totally unrelated.
