Satellite lounge access before regional flight

Hi all - we are flying into KUL satellite terminal on KLM and then under a separate booking flying to KCH on MAS in Y. My partner is OWE (QF Platinum). Assuming we can check in online (carry on only), does anyone know if we can access the Golden Lounge (First) before heading to the regional terminal for the flight to KCH? Maybe the key question is can we check in online, noting that travelling to Sarawak requires a passport.

Maybe. It basically depends on whos manning the desk at the time. Some lounge dragons will insist on directing you towards the domestic lounge. Others might let you in with a reminder to leave early enough for entry formalities.

Regardless, East Malaysian flights are treated the same as any other domestic flight for OLCI, so youll very likely get a boarding pass generated.

There is a check-in desk for connecting flights next to the information booth at the Satellite Terminal. If you can manage to check in online and get your boarding passes 48 hrs prior then you do not need to bother with this and you can try to go the the Golden F Lounge. Flights between KUL and KCH and considered domestic and departure is to the Domestic section at the main terminal . You need to allocate at least an hour for your transfer as there is no Aerotrain service and you will be bussed to the main terminal. There is a special domestic immigration line for connecting domestic flights at the main terminal - so do not follow the masses to the main immigration hall.

Last time I did a domestic connection only 1 out of 2 of the autogates were working and only about 1/5 Malaysian passport holders were seemingly successful with the working one. There was 1 fella manning the immigration counter and it took 45 minutes plus for a line of about a dozen or so. I'd therefore reiterate that at least an hour is a good amount of time for the connection and seeing as the main difference between the First section of the satellite lounge and the domestic lounge is the a la carte dining I wonder if you'd have time to enjoy it!
