MH to axe First Class, rebrand and reposition as Business Suites

From Dec 12, A380 and A350 first class will be rebranded as Business Suites and positioned as an up-sell from Business Class as well as (in theory) a way for corporate high flyers to book first class even if their travel management policy specifies business class.

MH probably realises the F product is not competitive enough, and so tries to have a year round F sale.

Just an update to this: MH has corrected its info on lounge access, the exec I interviewed for the article emailed me overnight to say that she was wrong about partner lounge access – from December 12, Business Suites passengers will not have access to Oneworld partner first class lounges (eg QF SYD), only to the MH First Class lounges (which in the case of KUL is losing the First Class Golden Lounge brand and being renamed as the a Business Suite Golden Lounge).

Hopefully MH will reprice downward their current MHUpgrade C to F for my upcoming Jan 2019 flight which currently MH is offering which I haven't bid yet;
KUL-LHR recommended RM4,830 or min RM4,200
LHR-KUL recommended RM4,855 or min RM4,225

in theory then MH can exclude OWE from the business suite lounge in KUL given no longer a first lounge

Re-branding to "Business Suites" to circumvent travel policies but still keeping the booking classes F, A and P? Right.....

KUL FCL will be even quieter should they exclude OWE (8 seats each to ICN/NRT nightly, 4 to LHR/SYD/KIX nightly plus 4 to LHR/NRT during the day). That's less than 50 pax a day at the BSCL I highly doubt it though - MH charges a hefty amount for their FCL/BSCL access

Just looked all my own and colleagues bookings to LHR and SYD - all are still showing bids for upgrades to "F" and not Business Suite... prices as they were before also. Maybe not quite updated yet

Well, to make it "easier" they swapped the 359 for a 333 on KUL-NRT yesterday and today, so anybody who was in first for the last few days of its existence got Business No-suites
(I know not likely related)
