(*) Denotes the availability of alternative lounges operated by oneworld partners. Note that select oneworld lounges restrict access to certain travellers only, and cannot be accessed either by status or if otherwise mentioned, class of travel. Qatar Airways Lounges are only accessibly to travellers flying in oneworld First Class or Business Class cabins. You can find more information about oneworld and oneworld airlines on oneworld.com

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the Golden Lounges? What are partner (non-Golden) lounges?
The Golden Lounge are airport lounges reserved for premium travellers of Malaysia Airlines and its partners. These lounges are operated by Malaysia Airlines and could be found in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and London Heathrow.

Lounges listed above that are not Golden Lounges are considered to be partner lounges. Partner lounges can be operated by a third party operator/airline on a contract basis, or otherwise by a oneworld partner airline.

Who can access the lounge?
Travellers flying on Malaysia Airlines can access the lounges listed above provided that they are flying in Business Class or First Class. Elite Enrich members holding, Gold, and Platinum status travelling in Economy are also permitted access. Enrich Blue and Silver members flying Economy can access the Golden Lounges by redeeming Enrich miles for a lounge pass. Additionally, members of oneworld Frequent Flyer Programs holding their Sapphire or Emerald tier equivalent are also entitled access.

Can I bring guests to the lounge?
Travellers on Malaysia Airlines, holding Enrich Gold and Platinum status can bring one guest also flying on a oneworld airline. Travellers holding oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status equivalents can do the same.

Can I buy access to the Golden Lounges?
Yes, a single-entry lounge pass can be purchased to buy access to the Golden Lounges in KLIA. More information can be found here.

How can I access the Golden Lounge First Class (Business Suites Lounge)?
Currently, access to the First Class side of the Golden Lounge (where available) is limited to passengers travelling in Business Suites on Malaysia Airlines and First Class on partner airlines, as well as travellers holding Enrich Platinum and its Emerald tier equivalent from a oneworld partner airline, travelling on Malaysia Airlines or oneworld airlines.

Business Class and Economy Class passengers are permitted access should they hold the Emerald status equivalent*.

Are upgraded passengers entitled to Lounge Access?
Travellers upgraded through the MHUpgrade Scheme can use the lounge. Travellers upgraded due to operational needs (operational upgrade/op-up) do not receive lounge access entitlement.

Is alcohol served at the Golden Lounges?
Alcohol is available at certain times of day in the Golden Lounge Satellite and Golden Lounge Regional at KLIA. It is not available at the domestic Golden Lounge in KLIA, or in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

*Malaysia Airlines, effective 12 December, has replaced First Class with Business Suites. Lounge access terms to the First Lounge seem to remain intact according to AusBT (https://www.ausbt.com.au/lounge-acce...-suites-flyers), and confirmed here on FT (https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30543633-post57.html).

Malaysia Airlines Lounges Guide

Hello everyone,

It has come to my attention that we don't have a MH Lounge Guide here on Flyertalk. Given how MH's lounge information can be left not updated for months, shall we start a wiki listing MH's lounges?

After all, it would be nice to give some attention to this beloved Malaysia Airlines Forum

Please do add and edit information as appropriate.

Thank you and cheers,

clubeurope

*Update - a FAQs list will soon follow (help me! )

A select list of FAQs and answers have been added to the wiki. The list of questions already added are not exhaustive, and will continue to be expanded.

Please do add and to/or edit the wiki as necessary.

All contributions are appreciated and any suggestions and discussions are much welcomed

cheers,

Clubeurope

I added some info on East Malaysian lounges, hopefully filled with the correct nomenclature.

Perhaps worth pointing out that non of the domestic lounges + Kuching & Kota Kinabalu (same lounge for domestic & international flights) serve alcohol. Or plainly speaking, only KLIA Regional & KLIA Satellite lounge serve alcohol , within a set period of hours.

I'm a OW Sapphire with AA and was traveling with my non-OW-elite gf from Jakarta new T3 to KUL. The check in agent told me that OW Sapphire (Enrich Gold included) CANNOT bring any guests [to the PP lounge]. I told him that's gotta be a mistake. He insisted that Sapphire can't bring guests, only Emerald can--so he issued me just one lounge pass. Went to the PP lounge, the lounge agent basically said the same thing. However, I showed her my plastic AA card and she confused my AA Platinum (OW Saph) with Enrich Platinum (OW Emerald), so she let me and my gf in LOL.

The check in agent also told me that this is a new policy and they used to issue passes for Sapphire guests. This is the first time i heard such things! Anyone with similar experience?

Just added a comment in on the MYY lounge. It accepts OWS/OWE only on MH Mainline flights. To enter whilst flying on Maswings rural air services - they only accept Enrich Plat/Gold or a Maswings J boarding pass.

Hi BB8Dreamliner, I'm sorry to hear of that. Glad that they let both you and your girlfriend in though. Doesn't help their claims when the OW website clearly mentions that OWS can bring a guest. Honestly, I am not too surprised with such claims when at outstations, particularly when the airline is using a contract-lounge. It is quite unfortunate.

Thanks TGflyergirl. That is actually very interesting to know. I suppose that would make much of the difference between Economy and Business on Maswings?

Actually, the difference spans a few areas, not just the lounge. They configure the ATR's with 2 rows at the back, and those 2 rows feel like they have about 36-37 inches of pitch. They also don't sell the other seat, so it's theoretically a capacity of 4 J seats only. You also get a rather nice croissant and drinks even on short 30 minute sectors (i flew MYY-MZV last week).

The price difference was i think only RM55 one way, and gets 2 enrich sectors (if you're into enrich) - didn't regret it

I thought MH's BKK lounge is the Miracle Lounge?

I went in with AA OWE whilst flying MASWings

But I wouldn't spend any more time at the airport/lounge than necessary. The lounge/airport is pretty meh but does its job. I prefer walking over to the shops across the airport for a drink/meal

whoa ... I was just scrolling through MH website and didn't know Kota Kinabalu has 2 Golden lounges ? I pass through it at least once a month, although never on an International MH flight.

however quick google search didn't turn up any review on the "International" Golden Lounge ... just wondering if anyone has photos of what it looks like ?

It looks just like the domestic version but slightly smaller. Virtually same offerings and facilities. It is located directly on top of the domestic lounge.
