(*) Denotes the availability of alternative lounges operated by oneworld partners. Note that select oneworld lounges restrict access to certain travellers only, and cannot be accessed either by status or if otherwise mentioned, class of travel. Qatar Airways Lounges are only accessibly to travellers flying in oneworld First Class or Business Class cabins. You can find more information about oneworld and oneworld airlines on oneworld.com

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the Golden Lounges? What are partner (non-Golden) lounges?
The Golden Lounge are airport lounges reserved for premium travellers of Malaysia Airlines and its partners. These lounges are operated by Malaysia Airlines and could be found in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and London Heathrow.

Lounges listed above that are not Golden Lounges are considered to be partner lounges. Partner lounges can be operated by a third party operator/airline on a contract basis, or otherwise by a oneworld partner airline.

Who can access the lounge?
Travellers flying on Malaysia Airlines can access the lounges listed above provided that they are flying in Business Class or First Class. Elite Enrich members holding, Gold, and Platinum status travelling in Economy are also permitted access. Enrich Blue and Silver members flying Economy can access the Golden Lounges by redeeming Enrich miles for a lounge pass. Additionally, members of oneworld Frequent Flyer Programs holding their Sapphire or Emerald tier equivalent are also entitled access.

Can I bring guests to the lounge?
Travellers on Malaysia Airlines, holding Enrich Gold and Platinum status can bring one guest also flying on a oneworld airline. Travellers holding oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status equivalents can do the same.

Can I buy access to the Golden Lounges?
Yes, a single-entry lounge pass can be purchased to buy access to the Golden Lounges in KLIA. More information can be found here.

How can I access the Golden Lounge First Class (Business Suites Lounge)?
Currently, access to the First Class side of the Golden Lounge (where available) is limited to passengers travelling in Business Suites on Malaysia Airlines and First Class on partner airlines, as well as travellers holding Enrich Platinum and its Emerald tier equivalent from a oneworld partner airline, travelling on Malaysia Airlines or oneworld airlines.

Business Class and Economy Class passengers are permitted access should they hold the Emerald status equivalent*.

Are upgraded passengers entitled to Lounge Access?
Travellers upgraded through the MHUpgrade Scheme can use the lounge. Travellers upgraded due to operational needs (operational upgrade/op-up) do not receive lounge access entitlement.

Is alcohol served at the Golden Lounges?
Alcohol is available at certain times of day in the Golden Lounge Satellite and Golden Lounge Regional at KLIA. It is not available at the domestic Golden Lounge in KLIA, or in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

*Malaysia Airlines, effective 12 December, has replaced First Class with Business Suites. Lounge access terms to the First Lounge seem to remain intact according to AusBT (https://www.ausbt.com.au/lounge-access-explained-for-malaysia-airlines-business-suites-flyers), and confirmed here on FT (https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30543633-post57.html).

@flyalways, on your Q2:
Yes the Golden Lounge (Satellite) acts as an arrivals lounge, but not if just OWE/OWS - it’s a J or Enrich Plat/Gold perk only.

As noted in the wiki on the main ‘Golden Lounges’ thread:
The International Golden Lounge at Satellite KLIA
...
This lounge may also be used as an arrivals lounge by passengers on MH flights who either flew MH Business Suites / Business or hold Enrich Platinum / Gold status (not OWE / OWS).

If you are ending your trip in KUL ! But with your onward boarding pass (in any class) you
could use it if you are OWE/OWS. Use it and then leave the airport to go to the city is
my plan !!

Ah, apologies. In that case you are correct: expecting you have an onwards MH-operated (or even OW-marketed & OW-operated flight) you are not utilising the lounge as an arrivals lounge, but rather as a departures lounge for your flight in 12hrs.

In fact, you can also utilise the CX lounge if open in that case, though they don’t have showers... maybe on your return to the airport prior to your next flight.

Juet visit regional lounge first time of this year, I would say regional now is better than satellite. There are five choices of drinks since last year, two infused water, ice lemon tea, orange juice and apple juice. Their sandwich bar now more appeal...

Not sure if because that I complained one the lack of dish variety where the hot food used to be six trays with 2 dishes are repeated, now all six trays of hot food are different dishes.

Now penang prawn mee also in the rotation for noodle bar. But definitely as Malaysia rule, don't expect it is as good as road side prawn mee, nothng beat road side meal...

Apart from Prawn Mee, another new noodle dish is Ipoh Noodles. It is scheduled for week after next in the noodles/ laksa rotation schedule.

I can confirm the same observation in Domestic Lounge too. Good for quick bite before flights. Had Prawn me as below image (was eating halfway when it was taken lol)

I think the meal in Lounge is still much better than anything that is offered in KLIA. unless you take car/grab/teksi down to Downtown KLIA for meals. Heck, even the mamak shop in KLIA terminal is crappy, crap service and expensive (which is expected anyway)

Sorry, re-read your post where I mistook it as KL. In case anyone is wondering, "Downtown KLIA" is few minutes by car from the airport Downtown KLIA

Not sure if this has changed but a few years back the taxi's still had an airport surcharge of RM25 (?) for the short ride, and Grab is RM45 ... per way !

If I had more than 2 hours and wanted a walk and bite, KLIA2 would be a more convenient bet and a shorter train ride away. The Mamak at Bus Level in KLIA2 is 24h and pretty good.

I forgot to mention i roll around using my own vehicle that why I had not issue going to downtown klia for quick bite.

Ah, you can forget about the taxi to be honest where they just slaughterer everyone who took the cab. I once charged RM50 from KLIA to Sepang Circuit for GT Race few years ago.

Likewise grab is rate is based on algorithm too. They had to take some "Queue" when they show up in KLIA which made them wait. Its a pity KLIA dont provide any bus transportation to Downtown KLIA while they do provide for Mitsui which is so so to be honest.

KLIA2 is not a bad choice but then again it is quite crowded at peak times.

I always go for Maggi Goreng at centre part of lowest level of the Main Terminal Bulding (it is a random food stall in the middle). Its a pity it was closed down 2 years ago. Even those who work there give top recommendation for that area.

What about the 24hr mamak restaurant at the KLIA multi storey parking building (Level 3, Block A parking) ? Were you referring to that?

Ya, I would recommend the Mamak in KLIA2, or else you can just grab the instant noodle from the small shop nearby ;p

For KLIA terminal, I usually just go Old Town when without lounge access, since the quality is about the same as outside. More important, the price still ok unlike Papa Johns in the terminal, which is ridiculous

That would be "Ali Maju" if my memories served me right. Yes that place is not bad, you can see airport staff usually go there for tea time/meals.

The hygiene is typical of Mamak shop (some foreigner may not get used to it).

Food wise, I rather stick to the basics like Roti Cannai (Roti Prata), Nasi Lemak and Maggie Goreng (Literally just plain maggie goreng)

Ah Old town, i put it as my last resort for meal if other F&B is closed. They previously used to have staff cafe (Which was opened for public before its closed) nicknamed Library opposite of China Airlines Lounge. I think the food there is reasonable for the $ paid.

Current lounge at CGK?

What's the current lounge being used at CGK? OneWorld site says the Plaza Premium that MH normally uses is temporarily closed.

Anyone know when that's set to reopen?
