Flight connnection on different ticket
hi all, I have a morning economy class flight from sin to kul and connecting to a kul to Sgn business class flight. Do you advise I clear immigration and check in or what do you all experts advise. Thanks
|
You don't need to clear immigration for exiting into West Malaysia but you still need to clear immigration for transit.
This usually does not involve long lines compared to immigration at arrivals. |
To reconfirm, reaching kul about 11am . Flight to sgn is at 2.45. It is on 2 different pnr, would try check through my luggage with business class tag so I can collect faster at sgn
|
I don't know the specific MH policies, but you should understand that you don't have a connection, you two completely separate flights.

As for luggage check through, they normally consider the first PNR class ie for you case, economy, unless you have some airlines alliance status, provided the 2 PNRs you hold are from the same airlines or the 2 PNRs have interline agreements or they are from the same alliance. |
Haha thanks. So I believe I will be collecting the j boarding pass from sin even though it’s a different pnr
is there a transit counter, always thought that the arrival and departure area were shared |
Are both flights on MH? The airlines you are flying on will impact on what will happen.

yes both will be on mh. Will there be a need to clear transit immigration,m? When I alr have both boarding pass if say Singapore gives it to me You will be connecting again immediately once you touch down? If your onward flight is OW, then try to interline all the way to you final destination instead since you mentioned you are taking MH. |
You'll get boarding passes and bags tagged through to SGN when checking in at Changi. Just show your onward e-ticket printout. There is no immigration clearance involved when you arrive in KUL, period. If you somehow end up getting your passport stamped, you've mistakenly entered

This usually does not involve long lines compared to immigration at arrivals. The OP, on arrival in KUL, could even rely on mobile or self-print boarding passes to just go to the departure gate at KUL for the next sector to SGN. In SIN, just provide the KUL-SGN flight details to the check in counter staff and bags will be tagged all the way to SGN. |
I believe you can request the KUL-SGN boarding pass when checking-in at SIN and luggage to be checked through (even though I never tried it).
If for whatever reason they didn't allow it, you can just do the online check-in and print your boarding pass. If you want a printed pass, you can also check with the KUL Lounge or even the transit counter at the Main Terminal. I remember SIN side couldn't issue me the boarding pass for my separate ex-BKK flight on the same day once, but that was a couple of years ago. |
