Basically MH has stated that they are bringing in 4 extra A330-300s for the interim to help cope with flights that demand larger aircrafts. Like double daily to HKG, flights to TPE, PVG, BOM.
Boeing Max 8s to replace current 737-800 fleet, and MH just signed on 10 Max 10s.
They are looking at either Airbus 330-NEO or Boeing 787s to complement the A350s. Has been said that they are looking up to 30+ aircrafts.

Was watching an interview with the CEO last night. Apparently average load factor airline-wide is ~90% and as high as 95% on the A380 to London, which was unthinkable a year ago when it was operating at 40%.
Also mentioned they have a glut of narrowbodies and shortage of widebodies and will be pursuing used A330s. Good to see them doing well.

Wonder whats wrong with the 8x A330 in storage then that pointguy refers to in the article. Maybe its cheaper to lease/buy others than try and bring these back in to service.

PS those longer regional routes should really get widebodies

Seems a lot of paid press..Darwin axed without notice so not all routes working well LHR constitutes only 2 flights a day, many flights and routes still empty. Typical group booking/charter type bookings from china(alternate days etc_..the evisa to china and India has helped but what is the depth in terms of delivery and strategy? All is very questionable.Service levels still pathetic, crew still poor, planes still a generation old.

Interesting to hear.
Is this more economy only? I flew back from Chennai on the night of the Hari Rays holiday, and business class had only two people flying (tho economy did have a better load).
Going, though, business looked pretty full, economy was packed.

Must agree with ashkale. Service is poor, planes -while new- look old and worn already and punctuality is not what it should be.
Good you stuff those planes (and yes, I recognize these load factors from experience), but in the meantime your business class passengers can't get a beer/wine on a KUL-PEN flight or even as far as a KUL-BKK flight.
Also no alcoholic beverages in the domestic lounge..
So yeah, please decide what you want: becoming a new AirAsia or being a full service carrier like Thai, SQ, CX etc.
