I've flown to/from TPE twice in the past 6 weeks, all in economy:
KUL-TPE - B738 - no wine offered initially, but fetched from galley upon request
TPE-KUL - B738 - no alcohol available in economy, flat-out refused
KUL-TPE - A333 subbed for B738 - no alcohol in economy, same as above
TPE-KUL - B738 - wine on the trolley, offered freely with meal
No consistency at all

So basically MAS don't like people who drink alcohol. On longer flights they will serve it just because they really need money from high revenue pax. MAS used to offer a good product in business class. In the future I will rather fly an airline where I don't have to feel guilty if I order a glass of wine.

New dinner service?
Flew MH360 yesterday evening,
The menu was revamped, MH now offers dine anytime, similar to QR's.
Satays, 3 appetizers, 4 main course, 3 dessert options and the usual drinks list.
I felt that the food was tasty yesterday an being on 1K on the new A330, I felt great in fact.

Do you have a sample menu? Their catering tends to be very uninspiring. Smoked chicken with few leafs, boring cheesecake. This sounds like a step into the right direction. Also is it still a tray service or have they gone full table

It's about an airline that is trying to re-organize, and trying to get back in the black and trying to cut out wastage and also improve on many things that were wrong in the past.
They are trying to get things right. Give them a bit of time under the new management. They have only been at it for a year so far.
I think you have misunderstood the discussion we have had about the airline and alcohol.

If anyone from MH management is reading this: Perhaps serving alcohol on evening flights (after 17:30) only would be more in order....
It appeases the premium traveler who likes a drink in the premium cabin (mainly in the evening)..
As an example, Air New Zealand (always an innovator) only offers wines and beers on it's evening "Koru Hour" flights....

Who needs alcohol on board when enjoying a free flow of champagne in the first class lounge.
3 hour transit before flying to Seoul.
Really have to watch it now before overdoing it

If you would be happy with settling in the lounge, i guess there is no need for J/F class to exist.

For those who are interested, alcohol served on the KUL-ICN flight and I believe the standard alcoholic drinks menu which was added next to the food menu which only had non alcoholic drinks.
Bit hard to take pictures during turbulence.

There is still the seat, last nights example was a good one. Drink something in the lounge, and sleep for most of the 6 hour night flight.
