Wow... This is pretty shocking. Once considered a top tier airline and now this? They just continue to cannibalize themselves. Sad, really. Glad I read this here than make the stupid mistake of booking them intra-Asia next time!

MH is going downhill very fast, that is if they're not already there. Furthermore I have given up on MH Enrich. If Malindo (OD) decides to return to the main KLIA terminal I guess I'll be flying them more frequently instead for domestic and regional flights. Their J product is pretty good.

Truly sad
Of my partner and my fondest memories are flying long-haul on MH in F. Rack of lamb carved seat side with white glove service by adorable flight attendants in turquoise tuxedos. We were actually looking for an excuse to fly Malaysia J from BKK-DPS. Still might do it in coach sin e at $185 it's a pretty good deal, but thanks for helping us save the several hundred a person we would've spent upgrading to business. Are there, at least, bars in the KUL terminal? We were bemoaning only a one hour layover since we would miss the club but we'll live

I took flight 789 BKK-KUL in J today. As discussed, no alcohol on board. "We are as dry as the air" the purser joked.
Service was below par and check-in was a mess. First time I have flown MH since 2010. Over the last 25 years I have flown over 60K miles with them in F and J. So sad to see what they have become...

Flew Kul-Bkk today business class and was told by the FA that MH no longer serves alcohol on flights less than 3 hours. Apparently this new policy was effective as of January 1.
I was also at the MH Regional lounge and was told no alcohol before 9am. This second policy appears to be a little fluid as I contacted a manager and this decision (at least for me) was rescinded.
As far as I'm concerned, I am done with MH. The food in J is now abysmal (satay excepted), no champagne on 3 of 4 flights in the last week and terrible irrops handling. If the alcohol policy is true, I can imagine the whole airline going dry in the near future, just to save a few ringgit.

When I was there in March 2016, there was a sports bar in the satellite terminal where you could get a drink. If you wish to use the Golden Lounge in the satellite terminal, alcohol is still served there. Only 1 type of champagne these days - Cattier - for both business and first. Given the short layover, if you go to the lounge, you are best off going to the "bar" section on the left by the business lounge for expedited service. The transit train between the satellite and main terminal is relatively efficient - about 5 mins. No idea about the lounges in the main terminal. Hope useful.
General KUL alcohol question: BA didn't serve any alcohol while on the tarmac in KUL - apparently Malaysia rules prohibit ANY airline from serving alcohol while on the tarmac? Is this a new rule (quite believable)? Or another BA cost cutting excuse (sadly, also believable)? Any thoughts / observations much appreciated.

Those were the days of yore ... MH used to have a better lounge and better in-flight service than most other airlines. A little sad these days.

Didn't MH used to offer alcoholic PDBs (at least champagne, not cocktails with hard liquor) at KUL before international longhaul flights?
