Help with modifying a MH booking...
 
I had to change the date of a MH booking done on-line. The change was done by telephone because the MH website would not retrieve the booking and thus not allow me to change the date of flying. I now want to check seating and meals on my new flight dates.

I have a new e-ticket but the booking reference remains the same.

If I try to check/change my seats by using the manage booking button on the MH website, the original booking shows up with the original eticket number.

How can I "manage" my new booking? I cannot even check which seat(s) I have selected for the 2 flights. How can I select a "special" meal? Thanks in advance for any clues/help.

In short. The MH website only will reflect the original flight for a PNR. Now even if it did reflect your new flight, there is no function to select seats. Best bet is to call.

MH online website was probably designed in the 90s with no updates. Worse still, they have two different booking systems - on MHMobile and malaysiaairlines.com. If you book on one, your bookings are (sometimes) not visible on the other. Talk about an archaic system! Even if you were to be able to access your booking online, you will not be able to select your seats - this has to be done at time of booking (and only if you booked on the malaysiaairlines.com website) or when you check-in online.
To be honest as the above poster has said, your best bet is to give their customer service helpline a ring. The wait is relatively short and the agents on the phone are generally very helpful - everything from selecting seats, changing the date your fly etc. As you mentioned the booking reference will remain the same, and their website is slow to update, but they should send you an e-mail documenting the change to your itenary.
Had to go through this process, twice yesterday. :)

Did you get an email from them after you made the change on the phone?

For special meals, best to call and request a special meal.

MH website is absolute crap, even by the horrendous standard of airline IT.

Yes, wolf72, I did receive an email confirmation showing the changes etc. All photocopied for presentation at KUL and MEL check-ins. Fingers crossed that my MHUpgrade bids are accepted. If so, I will happily lose the 150 MYR paid for exit row seats (each trip) ;)
