MHUpgrade is MH's implementation of Plusgrade's bid on an upgrade platform.
  • You can check if your itinerary is eligible for bidding on an upgrade (most are) on MH's website here, but it typically takes 24-48 hours after the ticket is issued for the itinerary to be in Plusgrade's system
  • You cannot bid for flights departing within 72 hours
  • Minimum bids are dynamically set based on various factors, and don't appear to change as you get closer to flight departure
  • Tip: If you're bidding the minimum, you should consider making the bid in USD unless bidding in your home currency avoids credit card costs that are higher than the difference in pricing (see this post)
  • Bid amounts can be changed or withdrawn up to 72 hours from flight departure. It does not appear that you can update the credit card number
  • Accepted bids will be processed within the 72 hours window, generally prior to 48 hours to departure
  • If your bid is accepted:
    • The credit card will be charged
    • You will be rebooked in "I" class for business class, "P" class for first class
    • You will receive an email notification from Plusgrade
    • You will receive an email with your new eTicket from the airline
  • Within MH Enrich, mileage accrual is based on the fare class on your original ticket. For partner programs, without manual intervention, your mileage accrual is based on the class you've been rebooked into, not the one from your original ticket. Retro claims based on original booking may be required, it is unclear yet if they will be accepted or not.
    • Note that "I" earns nothing, including no segment credits or tier points (it's as if you never took the flight) on AA, BA, CX, and probably other carriers (check your program's information), so from a frequent flyer standpoint you might end up worse off
    • There are multiple reports from multiple users in this thread that mileage on partner programs (BA) will be credited based on the earning rates (if any) from original booking class, following manual intervention/claim.
  • Please read MH's FAQs

Hmmm ... looks like everyone is still getting rejected. I have a bid in for KUL/AKL at the end of November - hope they sort things out by then.

Not looking good...looks like the rejection rate is high and MH are content with leaving seats unfilled in Business class.

Any data points/ experience on over the check in counter upgrades?

Was offered around IDR1000000 for DPS to KUL but no biz class meals. Thankfully didn't take it up as it was old seats without IFE

I would never take an offer like that without a BIZ meal. It has been offered to me before but no way...not for a 2 hour flight. They expect me to pay for business but won't give me a business meal? I also find it hard to believe they do not have sufficient meals to cater for last minute passengers.

All rejected

kul-pnh 202 MYR

pnh-kul 305 MYR

kul-bkk $75usd

the kul-bkk was 1015pm flight with 2 PAX seated in C
total flight had no more than 30 PAX

I guess inventory management figures it doesn't pay to use the old upgrade pricing scale.

I suspect this is part of the problems going on behind the scenes with their IT malfunctions. They either don't seem to have a grasp of how much business they are losing from their algoritims gone bad or nobody cares enough to fix it.

Whatever it is, not so sure if top management are aware of this and their mobile app problems and inability for passengers to check in online in some cases and to select seats.

It's still very very messy, 3.5 months into the transition.

Do you have to book direct with Malaysia Airliens

We are pleased to inform you that your current flight itinerary is eligible for an upgrade to a premium class cabin.

Not every flight qualifies for this new option, but YOUR UPCOMING FLIGHT IS!

Let Us Get You Upgraded! Click the button above to get started.

Its basically a sliding scale where you can put in a price and if successful get upgraded for that price. The scale is from $230AUD to $950AUD per leg. It also has this little dial that shows how "strong" your price is....needless to say, $950 is VERY strong...

Does anyone have any experience with this and if so, what value did you put and were you successful?

Sounds like a good deal as I paid $770 return economy (to Phuket) and even current business return to KL is $4,440.

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I have been upgraded a few times on MH 128 from Melb - KL via bidding around the 450 - 500 Aussie dollar amount.

I booked 3 days ago for same flight but I used Zuji website.
I have not recieved an email as yet for option to upgrade and when i go to website and put details in it says flight ineligible.

Do you only get the invite if you book directly with the airline?
I cant remember if i used them last time

Wish i had checked the board before i booked

Obviously MH upgrade is not working anymore.

It was the only reason I used them.

What a shame. I should have booked Thai direct or Singapore

Same here!
Also would get benefits as *G on TG or SQ

Still have 3 more itinerary on MH but no more no matter how cheap the price till they fix the pay for upgrade system.

Before Amadeus changeover I never missed a paid upgrade, now 0/7.
