MHUpgrade is MH's implementation of Plusgrade's bid on an upgrade platform.
- You can check if your itinerary is eligible for bidding on an upgrade (most are) on MH's website here, but it typically takes 24-48 hours after the ticket is issued for the itinerary to be in Plusgrade's system
- You cannot bid for flights departing within 72 hours
- Minimum bids are dynamically set based on various factors, and don't appear to change as you get closer to flight departure
- Tip: If you're bidding the minimum, you should consider making the bid in USD unless bidding in your home currency avoids credit card costs that are higher than the difference in pricing (see this post)
- Bid amounts can be changed or withdrawn up to 72 hours from flight departure. It does not appear that you can update the credit card number
- Accepted bids will be processed within the 72 hours window, generally prior to 48 hours to departure
- If your bid is accepted:
- The credit card will be charged
- You will be rebooked in "I" class for business class, "P" class for first class
- You will receive an email notification from Plusgrade
- You will receive an email with your new eTicket from the airline
- Within MH Enrich, mileage accrual is based on the fare class on your original ticket. For partner programs, without manual intervention, your mileage accrual is based on the class you've been rebooked into, not the one from your original ticket. Retro claims based on original booking may be required, it is unclear yet if they will be accepted or not.
- Note that "I" earns nothing, including no segment credits or tier points (it's as if you never took the flight) on AA, BA, CX, and probably other carriers (check your program's information), so from a frequent flyer standpoint you might end up worse off
- There are multiple reports from multiple users in this thread that mileage on partner programs (BA) will be credited based on the earning rates (if any) from original booking class, following manual intervention/claim.

As I understand it, 48-72 hours before the flight. I have an upgrade request for a flight next Wednesday (12th Nov) and have not heard anything yet...

I'm looking at this for an upcoming KUL-PEN flight. Thinking of bidding about 400MYR which is roughly the same price as the Plaza Premium lounge for 3 hrs (we are in transit for 4 hrs from HKG). Flight time is only 50 mins so no benefit in onboard seat/meal etc
Is the MH lounge at KUL significantly better/worse than the Plaza Premium lounge at KUL?

How do they allocate upgrades?
For example, let's assume there's 4 spare seats in J. Only one person has bid for an upgrade, but they bid the minimum price of say MYR100. Would MH upgrade them, or reject it for being too low a bid, even though there's 4 spare seats?

Flew this a few days ago and can now report:
1. I class credited, which is ZERO miles as it is a redemption fare class. So you do apparently give up your normal mileage by taking the upgrade option. Since my fare class was O, I only sacrificed 791 miles, but it's worth remembering on a long haul or in a higher fare class.

I opted for the upgrade on a one way SIN-HKG itinerary at the min price level. My card was charged SGD40 for the SIN-KUL leg and SGD120 for the KUL-HKG leg. However I have only received email confirmation for the SIN-KUL leg and the subsequent e-ticket indicates I class upgrade for the SIN-KUl sector only. Its been over 24hrs. My flight is on Sunday. What should my course of action be?

seem the min price is 655usd for kul-europe one way
i dont know if i shud take the offer. got my Y ticket during promo so less than usd800 return.
never flown biz class w MH. done biz class with SQ, CX and QR many times. is MH good? otherwise i'll just suffer in economy.
