Sat with the lounge manager (who's a friend) last Friday in the regional lounge, and he introduced me to the Interior decorator responsible. The thinking is February 2018 at the moment. Not January.

Thanks as always for sharing your updates, TGFG; I’m flying CNY time, so keen to see if Feb is indeed achievable!

How good is the golden lounge currently open? We will be arriving 3:40am on MH and depart 9am on CX... I used to get a room at the F lounge to sleep for couple of hours (just to kill time) and wait for breakfast to open.
Could someone give some advise so we would know what to expect? i.e. are there any area in the lounge that we could actually lie flat? what time do they start serving food?
Thanks.

The recently renovated regional lounge only opens at 5am. Decent offering. It has a nap area which you can indeed lie flat, with 3 lieflat seats each for male and female. Not much privacy though as there arent even curtains between the lieflats. There are also showers in the lounge.

I just landed at KUL from SIN and as we taxied in the announcement said that the Golden Lounge was closed until 9 January. Now, you are free to believe this or not!
I am sat in the Golden lounge near the H gates - very nice!
On another note, there is quite a lot of negativity on this forum about MH performance of late and I can quite understand it having flown MH over more than a decade but I have an alternative comment/view!
Having just flown SIN - KUL which is a seriously short haul flight, let me compare the MH product with what you would get on BA, or indeed on any European short haul:
1. MH in J class provide legroom and width, 2 + 2 configuration
2. MH boarding was not a zoo as we see constantly at London Heathrow, priority boarding was simple and direct.
3. Unbelievably for a 45 minute flight, a meal was offered and was better than any I have seen on BA short haul.
4. Seats in economy reclined - take a look here to see why this is important!
Don't tell MH that BA and European carriers offer such an awful product on their short haul, they may erode what I thought was quite a good product from MH.... now for the KUL - PER sector where there is quite a lot of dissent on here!

I finally had a reply from MH to an email I sent a couple weeks ago asking what date the closed lounges will re-open. In the reply, they are saying 29 JAN.
