After having been to all luxury hotels in Atlanta I can honestly say that MO is the best overall. Look at TripAdvisor (#1 in the city if you consider luxury only). The building is newer, better maintained and overall kept. The artwork in the lobby is truly fantastic and so are the employees that work there. Do yourself a favor and try it out. Also, phenomenal Spa!

the higher up areas that might be additional terraces are above the highest floor of the hotel (19th)

5th floor terrace event space
http://www.fourseasons.com/atlanta/a...om_comparison/
5th floor - 12 terrace rooms
5th and 7th floors - 30 city rooms
according to website all "deep bathtub" (base 2 suites technically dont show)
room tub on tripadvisor http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/med...om-bathtub.jpg
same tub in 12 base suites on 14 floors (6th to 19th) http://www.oyster.com/atlanta/hotels...--v1260863-83/
(other suites - 5 suites on 19th floor)
presumably same tub in corner suite, seems like two rooms with one turned into living room (size, doors, 2 full bath)
luxury is better with view (because corner) http://www.fourseasons.com/content/d...b.720.405.jpeg
presidential is same as luxury but no view http://d2eup7qjx8j6ae.cloudfront.net...b.720.405.jpeg
just pulled $429 dlx room ... $499 terrace room $649 base suite $1200 corner $1400 luxury
http://www.whatnowatlanta.com/2012/0...0k-renovation/
$164K / 244 = $672 per room?

Mandarin Oriental Atlanta features king rooms with terraces on the front of the building and suites with double terraces overlooking their garden. I stayed in one on a high floor and the views are pretty impressive, especially if you pick a '07 room (if i remember correctly). Hope this helps!

The MO is centrally located in Buckhead, traditionally the shopping and nightlife center of Atlanta. It's a very car-centric neighborhood, but you can walk to 2 big malls.
I stayed at the MO earlier this month (my family lives in an apartment nearby), and I have mixed feelings about it. My Mandarin Room was the best part: spacious, comfortable, and well-decorated. I liked it better than the RC Buckhead rooms. It did face east towards a construction site, and noisy work started at 7 am. This may improve once site prep is done, but views will quickly get significantly blocked.
The design of the public areas, with tight spaces and lots of marble, feels cold to me. There's rarely many people around, and a long, narrow, and mostly empty restaurant at breakfast is almost depressing. Breakfast at the RC Buckhead is much more enjoyable. It would be nice if they served breakfast in the lounge that opens up to the beautiful gardens in the back.
I haven't needed to rely much on the staff there, but I've never gotten a super-warm feeling. An e-mail I sent about 4 days prior to arrival went unanswered until I mentioned it on Twitter, at which point the local PR person responded and got things moving.
