www.peninsula.com
Has someone hijacked the Peninsula website? I have tried getting to it by direct entry, through my favorites, through the sticky at the top of this forum and through several search engines. All I get is one of those generic search sites that you often get when you accidentally misspell a url. I have also tried on my son's computer in our office and got the same result

As I mentioned it is also happening on my sons computer as well as my laptop. His computer is on our network but this laptop is not. They are both on the same high speed connection.

You might try clearing your browser's cache and trying again. This also can be a domain name server (DNS) problem. In either case, it is very often unrelated to the actual site.

OP - I tried the link provided and I see what you are talking about - goes directly to Network Solutions and says this site is under construction.
However, if you put the hotel name before Peninsula, it will take you directly to that city's hotel. For example:
http://hongkong.peninsula.com/
So, try that, substituting the city name you are looking for where hongkong is.

I had the same trouble, and initially couldn't access anything of theirs, even with t he city first. Gradually yesterday the site came back and seemed fully operational with some new content on some pages last night. Now, though, it's back to the Network Solutions page...?

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I will try again tomorrow and if it still happens I will try Richard's suggestion.

And it still works for me. There is something weird going on however, because when I get the IP address and enter that directly (which is how one tests for a DNS failure), that never seems to work. Suggests they are migrating their server from one farm to another and the change has not propagated to all DNS servers.
If you want to try a different DNS, which is typically something you can set in your internet access device (router or computer), a very reliable free one can be found at
http://www.opendns.com/
along with clear and simple instructions about how to make the change.

The direct link works for me today. But, I really don't see the problem if you can't get there directly. If you need to pull up Hong Kong, just do this as already suggested:
http://www.hongkong.peninsula.com
Any other city, just substitute that name where Hong Kong is.
