Saito is always good everywhere in the world, so not surprised there
Follow where the inspectors stay...

I feel the same way about Yu Yuan at FS Seoul. Very decent Hong Kong Chinese food, also premium but nothing worthy of a Michelin star.

I did not know they had a star when I dined there earlier this year, nor would I have ever guessed they had one. The service was perhaps star worthy, but the Peking Duck certainly wasn't.

We just had a terrific stay at the Intercontinental IC. We've stayed before and returned because we love the view of the harbor. We had a virtuoso booking, but booked the room that we wanted and asked that we not be upgraded from it. We love the junior deluxe suite xx16 that is the room at the V of the building. This gives us water views toward two directions. It's the perfect time of year because the Christmas lights are on the buildings on the Hong Kong Island side. It's beautiful after sunset. We love how every restaurant, their lobby lounge, and their club all have water facing views. I prefer being close to water level as opposed to staying in the hotels where you are substantially far above the water.

We used the hotel car both directions to and from the airport. We were particularly impressed with the return. The driver radioed ahead as we neared the airport. One of their employees was on the sidewalk with a trolley as we arrived. He escorted us to the check in counter and waited til we were checked in.

They have been working on it since then.

Had a similarly good experience when I stayed with them back in 2015 in an Executive Suite. Loved the spectacular harbour views from just about everywhere, even from the spa in the bathroom.
Their Terrace Suite has been on my list for years. Hope it remains in some form even after the renovations next year.

I think the weekend semi-buffet lunch at the Steakhouse is one of the best deals in town. the restaurant is tucked away on the lower level so there won't be any great views though.

On my first visit to Caprice several years ago I was underwhelmed. But on my most recent visit this year I was very impressed by how much it has improved, particularly with the warmth of the service. It’s still not the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at, but I found it more deserving of its stars than some other places in Hong Kong, where I think people are resting on their laurels a bit.

Thanks for the update. I have never been to HKG (outside of the airport) and have been researching hotels. The IC is leading the pack since a good view is really important to us.

peninsula will be higher rate, but you could compare based on desired budget

dont think either of them are ever completely blocked by clouds as RC can be

Budget wise trying to save a little on our HKG hotel since the next stop on this trip will probably be Amanpulo.

most here agree re budgeting for resort instead of city / stop

506 harbor at IC
545 deluxe harbor (can upgrade to jr - all jr are harbor view?)
+150 club - perhaps only for alcohol, unless via agent
ihg.com/intercontinental/content/us/en/ambassador
'free' 2nd weekend night, maybe upgrade at booking
IC rates may jump after renovation and regent reflag

881 harbor at pen

742 harbor at RC
858 grand harbor
+269 club

before offers, quoting USD for march 13

ICHK rooms are a problem. While the harbour view is nice, the rooms are so old, and their bathroom except the suites are from the 80s. They really should just shut down the place to do a revamp.

2019 or 2020 wasn't it? Still a while to go, and even longer before it's all done.

And the point re: bathroom/suites - Deluxe Suite and up only. The Executive Suite is still dated, still badly worn etc.

Yeah, and they're rebranding it back to Regent Hong Kong when it reopens

*cue excited*
