Yes, lots of us have. Just be warned that this property is not the most generous and any benefits you might have on your paid nights (like breakfast) might not be available on the free night.

Thanks. I don't have any benefits, just the room at the rate I'm paying. I just posted over in the IC forum for more info.

Is the cert. electronic or comes via snail mail? If I can get access to it before leaving town in a few days, I'd join this as it seems well worth it.

Thanks,

Just stayed in a residence suite for 6nights at the Langham Place Mongkok. Mongkok reminds me of Hong Kong 10yrs ago, TST and Island has IMO lost the essence that made Hong Kong special.

If you stay at Langham Place, stay in a club room minimum you wont be dissappointed.

I've used the cert many times, including a few at the HK IC. It's simple and straightforward to use. A great deal of info is found in the InterContinental hotels forum.

Problem for you is to get one in time for your trip next week. The certificate is paper (no e-certs), and you must present it when you check in. Although you can sign up for IC Ambassador online, it will take several weeks for the kit -- which includes the certificate -- to get to you. You might be able to find one through the Coupon Connection and get the provider to air express it to you.

I am planning on staying at the LMO. Which has better benefits: Virtuoso or Amex Plat FH&R?

I think Virtuoso benefits are better at this hotel. For our dates, Amex rates were marginally lower. Amex includes upgrade(if available), continental breakfast, late checkout and welcome gift. Virtuoso includes upgrade (if available), full breakfast, late checkout and $50 spa credit and free admission to 'Heat Experience' at the spa.

I haven't stayed yet so I haven't actually experienced the actual benefits firsthand.

These are the Virtuoso amenities at the LMO:
  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Daily full breakfast for up to two in-room guests, in award-winning Amber restaurant or MO Bar
  • A US$50 spa credit at The Oriental Spa, once during stay
  • Complimentary access to the Heat Experience at The Oriental Spa
  • Greeting at aircraft gate upon arrival at Hong Kong airport, and escort through customs by personal hotel concierge
  • Daily Fresh Fruit & Newspaper
  • Late check-out until 4pm, subject to availability
According to its 2008 catalogue, FHR offers breakfast, upgrade, and "a welcome gift delivered to your room."

Langham Place in Mongkok.

Heard alot about the Club L-room, however I stayed in an executive room and was impressed (especially view from room and bed with pillow menu)

Spa is really, really good!

Very convenient with indoor connection to MTR and the lovely Langham Mall.

I would recommend The Peninsula. I recently stayed there. It was very nice.

Having only been to hong kong once, I can only recommend the Harbour Plaza Hong Kong on the Kowloon waterfront. Great view of the harbour and decent food offerings. We chose to hire an airport transfer "limo", we got a Mercedes E-class but RRs are also available. The hotel also has a pool/lounge on the roof of the high-rise, I would definately recommend it.

By HK standards, the Harbour Plaza is at the bottom of the 4-star rating pile. There are probably a dozen hotels that are better than the Harbour Plaza.

Well I guess all those stays at CY, La Quinta, etc have worn out my sense of luxury...

I still like the Four Seasons best (I like the MO and Pen too). I like the rooms and the connected IFC mall is better than similar hotel-mall combos like Pacific Place. The room service food is great too. And the FS has not 1 but 2 pools (plus plunge and whirlpool) which are much larger than the nice but small pools and Pen and others.

If you want a quiet, exclusive lobby, the Pen is the wrong hotel. The problem is that it's such a landmark that the place is teeming with tourists, some who even get in the elevators and explore the guest floors! At least guests can reserve tables for tea (they will keep a table open for you if you reserve), but the throngs of non-guests can be annoying.

The area around the Pen can also be quite crowded. Our RR almost couldn't get into the driveway because there were so many people on the sidewalk! But of course the plebeians were awestruck by the RR and the driver pushed us through

Did a couple of the white-clad pages with pillbox hats come out afterwards with rags to remove the roadkill? Just be careful, some of those giant waddling foreign tourists blocking the porte cochere rival the Roller in weight!
