also wonder if you fly low cost carrier (including international) to terminal 4, if you can do airside transfer to pulo plane

has anyone ever arranged airport VIP service (queue jump and or escort) through pulo?
when not booking anything extra, where does the pulo driver meet you at the airport?

Any advanced divers who have been to Amanpulo--can you comment on the diving options for the advanced diver? Does Amanpulo's dive team only go close to Pamalican Island or do they travel farther afield to see some of the amazing dive sites closer to Palawan, etc? I've just emailed Amanpulo to inquire, but I thought the great experience here might help.

We are advanced/wreck certified divers, so we like to dive really good spots--usually those with tremendous pelagics or interesting geological formations (caves, crevices, steep canyons, etc) or wrecks or the like. We've been to Amanwana, Cayo Espanto (Belize/Blue Hole), Lizard Island (Great Barrier), RC Sharm El Sheikh (Ras Muhammed), Hawaii, and the Caribbean--so we are looking for pretty good (better than beginner/decent) diving to warrant the trip to Amanpulo.

Also, any feedback on the best times to visit Amanpulo for best diving conditions/the most pelagic life will be appreciated. Thanks!

What about Raffles Makati? Looks new and quite nice, we are considering this now for the two nights prior to Amanpulo.

Bhrubin, I can't directly answer your question as our actual dive time at Amanpulo was limited. But I have heard about a resort which is more diving oriented....Atmosphere. It might combine well with Amanpulo. Then again, their website mentions a lot of macro, so maybe the Philippines isn't as known for pelagics?????

There might be some "luxury" dive boats as well. I recall seeing options in the DAN magazine. (Philippines Siren, etc.)

Another "can I make this connection" question: Taking the early charter to MNL, arriving at 10:40 on a Saturday. Can we make the 12:20 CX flight or should we plan on the 2:50 PM PA
? One observation is that both of the charter times into MNL seem to allow not a lot of leeway to the flights of the major airlines. Wonder why Amanpulo doesn't just move everything a half hour earlier....TIA

Thanks for the recommendation. If nothing else, Atmospheres Resort might offer us an alternative location from which to dive other sites. There are some great wall and cave/canyon formations in the Philippines, so those would also be fun--but not close enough to Amanpulo, unfortunately. (You can't get everything!)

I did contact Amanpulo directly, and their dive team responded by indicating the better dives sites around Palawan are not close enough for the Amanpulo boats to reach in a day. (Still, they responded within less than 24 hrs despite my having no reservation, which I always appreciate--and which reinforces the quality of the resort and dive team IMO.) We therefore may look into chartering our own vessel for a couple of nights when we go.

Best diving in Philipines is Tubbataha Reef. No day trips only Liveaboard and only 3 month season to visit. "Close" to Amanpulo the best diving we had was Apo Reef and Coron. We stayed at Dimakaya Island (www.clubparadisepalawan.com). House Reef is nice with Dudongs, small Sharks and chartered a boat going to Apo on a day trip. Next to Dimakaya wou´ll find nice WW2 wreck diving.

So I am going to Amanpulo again in about 5 months. Is Beach Casita # 21 still the one to request? Last time I was at Amanpulo, Beach Casitas 16 to 29 were under renovation.

Just saw your post !
Friends , who are more COMO , have just stayed at Raffles & say it ' s " incredible " .
Where did you decide on ?
We booked in SLA ourselves pre / post Pulo , guess gradual ' thump ' back to reality , not quite easing back even with club floor

We decided for 2 nights at the Raffles pre-Pulo, and post-Pulo we have a good flight connection on QR to Doha. Getting excited!

Would be great to hear from you about your stay and also for some recent "updates" on Amanpulo (especially after Typhoon Haiyan and also Hagupit last week).

Any feedback on a June visit? I know it's potentially rainy - but how rainy?
Has anyone been there at that time, and how was the weather?
Thanks

The Beach Club has been extended since last year & work on expanding the decking further is being planned . Should be ready later this year .

All looking superb .
A bit windy when we were there .
So we didn't make it to The sandbar , only recced Manamoc Island to sort of see ASF activities .

It will be hot in June . We were there in May too .
Weather , as we know , has been rather unpredictable.

Nice proper Amanpulo luggage tags now

Enjoy your stays

Many thanks! I checked the average weather for the month and it looks like 13 days of rain, on average. Any feedback on whether that's short afternoon showers or mostly all day rain?
