Fairmount Princess Scottsdale...upgraded because of screw up to an amazingly nice Suite!
This property is phenomenal in general though, even their lousy rooms are amazing. |
Four Seasons Las Vegas, Service was Fantastic!
Fantastic viwes, treated like a king. |
Another for the Scottsdale Princess
Stayed here in 1996 and had a wonderful stay. We were not in a suite, but the regular rooms were beautiful. We had a fantastic dinner in Marquesa as well.
The pool area was gorgeous and my brother ran into Nancy Kerrigan, who was significantly more well known at the time. Apparently, she and her husband must have loved their stay-- it was about 9 months before she had her baby! :D |
Shilla Jeju
Well for me that would be the Presidential Suite at the Shilla Jeju.
Absolutely amazing! see for yourself: http://www.shilla.net/jeju/en/rooms/suite_president.jsp |
Ok.... reading this brought back so many memories...... as I sit here at home tending to my 2 month old baby. So let me toast to some great hotel stays and to a wonderful past! But I can't remember any room numbers!
1. RC Bali. Private villa, incredibly romantic. 2. Amandari - Ubud. Again, private villa..... 3. Oberoi - Bali. Private villa, HUGE. 4. Cesar Park - Rio. Large suite overlooking Impanema Beach. 5. Kempinski - Budapest. Large suite, gorgeous decor. 6. Kempinski - Istanbul. Gorgeous room, view of Bosphorus. 7. Hotel Goldener Hirsch - Salzburg Austria. Gorgeous room, overlooking old town. 8. Le Sireneuse - Positano It. - Suite, view of town. To die for. 9. Oberoi - Bangalore India - fantastic room, service so dreamy. 10. The Grand Hotel - Stockholm. Gorgeous suite. 11. Monesterio (bad spelling) - Cuzco Peru. Lovely room, lovely lovely hotel. 12. Hotel du Eden Roc - France. Lovely lovely room. Ok. Have to stop now. Becoming slightly resentful of my need to not travel so much anymore...... these kids need to grow faster. and now the crazy one..... not luxury at all. Kowloon YMCA - room was nothing to write home about, but it had floor to ceiling glass wall overlooking the Harbor and Hong Kong Island. One of the most gorgeous sights on earth. |
Iif I would have to rate my past experiences. Here is my Top 5 List:
1. Plaza Athenee, paris - A wonderful Junior Suite 2. Hotel Bristol, Vienna - A gracious huge 1 Bedroom Opera Suite 3. Hotel Goldener Hirsch - A wonderful 1 Bedroom Suite 4. Inn at Spanish Bay - A huge suite, so big that my wife and myself had to use a telephone to talk if we were at the other end of the suite 5. Last but not least, A wonderful suite at the ST.Regis Shanghai |
Island Shangri-la harbor view room golden circle floor, Hong Kong
fabulous views and service! |
Best hotel experience ever had has to Kempinski Budapest, presidential suite for a week. Utterly fabulous. The "room" was palatial. Service was fantastic, with seemingly entire hotel staff knowing us by sight and addressing us by name. Felt like royalty, and I rarely, if ever, like hotels, even upmarket ones.
I also really liked the Amigo in Brussels. No presidential suite though. |
The Little Nell in Aspen. Bigger than my house, and the bathroom had parts I couldn't even identify..

Suggest Aman Resorts
Do not think you will find much with as much luxury as one of the Aman resorts.

Park Suite at the Park Hyatt, Tokyo (I think it was 4601): for amazing views, two plasma TVs, excellent furnishings and - of course - a funky washlet.
Deluxe Park View Room at the Mandarin Oriental, New York: for amazing views through floor to ceiling windows, high definition TV on-demand on a wide-screen LCD, fantastic rain shower. Junior Suite at the Gritti Palace, Venice: old world comfort, Murano glass chandeliers, side view on the Grand Canal. Park Deluxe Room at the Park Hyatt, Milan: for the most preposterous bathroom, which was significantly larger than the bedroom, complete with minibar! Hoping to add a few later this year: taking a trip to Asia this winter, and staying at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental in HK, the Dhara Dhevi Mandarin Oriental in Chiang Mai and the Peninsula in Bangkok. |
The cottages at Twin Farms in Barnard, VT are wonderful. We stayed in The Perch. Bathroom has a square copper "soaking tub" that was chin-deep when sitting straight up, and was long enough for my 6'2" husband to lie flat on the bottom (no, I did not let him drown!). And the water pressure was so good that it filled in about 2 minutes. Extraordinary, unobtrusive service, too.
