Deflagged luxury properties and projects around the world

Curious about luxury properties along lines of Aman and Four Seasons that have deflagged or simply never opened but still exist whether sitting unused or open under different name.

Aman examples:

- Nusa sat empty then became Revivo (well sort of as two former Aman Villas developed into per resident expert FlyerEC ) best nightly rate on planet to get a former Aman villa ?
- Delhi deflagged in name only property seemed not to change much as Lodhi.
- Two Aman property in Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, one in valley sits built but abandoned ?
- Was one of the other worlds better and under appreciated resorts the Detai Langkawi at one point to be an Aman?

Other Aman or Aman to be with similar stories ? paging expert FlyerEC 💙

Four Seasons Examples:

-Vancouver - sad story not sure what’s become?
-Damascus - tragic end to a landmark in the region, what is it today?
- Bangkok - continued as Anantara and very much remained hidden gem and stellar deal.
-Jerusalem - never opened as Four Seasons but as Isrotel Orient?

others luxury brand examples?

- Sad to add Six Senses Spa at RC Al Bustan Palace no longer a Six Senses. This was a true spa destination in the region - embodies best of Six Senses style from the ground up in stark contrast to the RC itself (I do not mean this as slight to RC Al Bustan as it’s one of my favorite properties in world).
- Also in region but some time ago the Evason Ma’In in Jordan. Operated for hot second as Evason and was really an interesting property rather like a Jordanian Amangiri if that makes any sense? Now operates as some non luxury spa hotel.

Here are a few former FS properties

Aviara near San Diego - now Park Hyatt
San Francisco - opening as a Sonesta next month
Seattle - now a Fairmont
Chicago - now a Ritz-Carlton
Philadelphia - now a Hilton
Toronto - now a condo?
Dublin - now an InterContinental
Carmelo in Uruguay - now a Hyatt
Caracas - now an independent hotel
Berlin - now an independent hotel
Jakarta - turned into a mixed-use development but I think St. Regis will open a new property in same location with a new building?
Tokyo - now a Fujita hotel
Shanghai - now a Regent hotel

Wow that is a stunning list. I was just in Philly, had I but known. Looks like $195 tonight.

Totally forgot about that property. Was a bit odd and too gloomy for my tastes.

That still seems like a lot for that property and that location, especially on a Sunday night of a long holiday weekend during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amanusa is still empty , is not Revivo .. but ..
The owner of one of the Aman Villas at Nusa Dua converted his villa to Revivo along with what was AZ ‘ s which he bought over ..

COMO Treasury was supposed to be an AMAN .. GM is ex Aman

Small correction to the above list:
FS Berlin is now The Regent Berlin

also:
Four Seasons Great Exuma - now Sandals Emerald Bay

MSPeconomist Sep 6, 2020 8:15 pm

Four Seasons fo Sandals is quit a leap (down).

Fascinating, thanks for this. What goes on with the Nusa property? Did Revivo build on or it is solely made up or the former villas?

Do you know what happened with the Aman that apparently stood/stands dormant in Jordan?

Some chain type , K .. , has taken over Amanusa , supposed to be adding more units . Stalled for now , obviously .

The AMAN Villas at Nusa Dua are different & in separate location , connected by a closed dirt track - the usual local & rights issues ..
Revivo are solely from Nusa Dua Villas . So we now have 3 separate entities / properties with similar or exactly same structure ..

You need to ask the Queen of Jordan about her plans for them ..
Just a thought , now that you mentioned it .. , .. perhaps check with AZ who is “ stranded “ in Singapore too

You are correct. The independent hotel in Berlin that I was thinking of is this one which used to be a Ritz-Carlton, not Four Seasons:

Didn't know it was a RC, but you are right. Was first called Vier Jahreszeiten (but no Four Seasons), the RC, after it Regent and so on. Don't think it was ever really successful. Personally I didn't stay as the location is not in my favor.

Location? It's only a block or so from the current FS Philly. And other nice hotels. True it's a half mile from the Rittenhouse and Sofitel, but that's not too far.

And looking a few days out at mid-week, it is $175. I think this pricing is roughly the same every night for other Hilton's too during these times.
