When planning our trips, if Ed Tuttle designed the hotel it became a talking point. We knew the hotel would be fabulous!
God bless him and his family.

Anybody have a list of the hotels he designed? I think the best way to honor his memory would be to reminisce about the hotels that we've stayed.

Amanpuri -- Sort of beyond criticism. With AZ, this hotel was revolutionary. It completely smashed the model for high-end resorts. Rooms 103/105 might be the best on the planet.

Amangani -- Wish my SO would have let us travel this 4th of July to Jackson ... With three trips, this is the Aman I've spent the most time. You never forget the vista from the Teton Room after a fall snowstorm.

Love Gani .

Was hoping to return to Zoe in April , it was not to be .. list the others Ed Tuttle designed later

Marrakech was the first African destination where we stayed ( stopovers / transits do not count ) - because of Jena , wonderfully unforgettable introduction to the continent about 20 years ago .
Been waiting for the new spa to be built ( since ) before returning , seems to be stalled for years now .. will not be ET overseeing , it was not going to be him anyway sadly .

Then there is our all time Bali favourite , KILA ! Hoping to return to Amankila in August , will see if borders open up by then .
Not forgetting Jiwo on Java

Same with Puri , no international flights - perhaps last quarter 2020
Only dreading seeing the new boutique / gallery . Think he also did not see it either as last stay was before it was completed . Had only wanted to work with AZ .
I feared it would spoil Puri ..

Have enjoyed his Sukothai too .

We stayed once in his own villa at Amanpuri - an upgrade I hasten to add! He revolutionised hotel design and, I guess, a lot of domestic design as well as people returned from his hotels and thought, hey, I want some of that right here in Grand Rapids or wherever.

Amanpuri despite the size now remains a classic. But that monstrosity of the boutique by Kuma is hard to accept.

other properties by Tuttle & Co were Le Melezin ( a rework Of building & interiors ) Sukhothai Bangkok ( interiors ) Capitol Tokyo & many private residences. Puri & Kila remains evergreens .

May he RIP and his friends and family have fond memories of him when seeing the legacy that was his work.

I don’t recognize many names in the world of architecture and design, but his was one that I do recognize.
