Hah, SanDiego1K, I think of you as my travel twin ... but younger.

We're considering Lake Louise in June, but "The border between Canada and the U.S. will close for nonessential travel".

As somebody who lives very close, I think you are cutting it too fine. And the weather is normally a lot better in late August and September. The national parks (in which Lake Louise sits) are closed as of the last day or two. My gut says that July is probably the realistic local return to service. Who knows, and I might be totally wrong, but our virus cases are still accelerating. So it is going to be a while. Even with the relatively strict distancing we have put in place, at least by North American standards. On the other hand, if you can make all reservations such that they can be cancelled without penalty, then no worries. That aside, it is a truly stellar location. And if you have a week, it is worth considering a drive up to Jasper for a couple nights too (which I actually prefer -- it is much less crowded).

June is our anniversary and we were there for our honeymoon (Jasper and Banff, too). The view of Lake Louise from the Chateau is magical. Realistically, you're right. Even August may be optimistic based on what I've been reading.

This morning got an email from Glyndebourne opera festival that all is canceled at least till 14 July 2020. I am devastated. The same will be for Salzburg whitsun festival probably, so no opera this summer

Now waiting to get out of a small ugly third world country under a dictatorship and pray that my LX flight out on 24 March will not be canceled.

After I plan to enjoy the beauty and life quality of especially central Europe once the bans lifted, which might be only in 2 or 3 month time. Some overdue purging might take place in the tourism industry and it looks like the spoiled "millenial eaysjet generation" will take a hit. Hopefully there will still be airlines left by end May, but the world will not be the same as before and I predict air travel will become more expensive.

Happily as a Lifetime Senator (LH gold) I am not worried about mileage runs . The advantage of getting older.

Meanwhile, while we live in this perpetual nightmare parallel universe, our friend Macmyday remains in the real world. Having self-isolated at Fregate Island he is now self-isolating at the Marriott North Island.

All pubs and restaurants closed in the UK by government order. No specific law yet about hotels (or restaurants within hotels) but just had an email from one of our favourites, Gravetye Manor, saying they are now closed.

The Connaught in London has closed its bar and restaurants to non-residents.

The worst thing is that the actual actions can only be effective if they are followed. If enough idiots don't follow the rules (Corona parties ans other rubbish) it's getting worse and the restrictions will most likely last longer.

Guess it will be "fun" to travel back home. Hope the best for him.

Had a leisure trip planned for last month that I had to cancel. 5 nights in HKG followed by 4 at Pulo. we ended up going to Como T&C which was really lovely. I have already re-booked Pulo (this time for 5 nights) for mid Jan. Also we will be staying in SIN 1 night at GH. We are skipping HKG, not because of the virus but to save time.

The Crillon Paris is closed, Rosewood London and the Carlye NYC, plus many small hotels in the UK, incuding The Beaumont London, Whatley Manor Wiltshire, Limewood Hampshire and all the hotels in The Pig group. Four Seasons Milan and Florence are also closed.

For those of you who have something booked after July/August, will you still consider going (obvi still depends on how the whole situation is)
Looks like a lot of hotels are laying off employees, and I wonder if the overall quality of the luxury hotels will be affected even if they re-open later this year

Lots of cancellations on this end, but pivoting to smaller places that remain open and that I can drive to.

Currently spending the isolation period at a beach house in a small island town.

Rescheduled all trips to post November.

The uncertainty of timing, while understandable, makes rescheduling very difficult. The Australian Government just banned citizens from travelling abroad with minor exceptions.

Given how many people are much worse if affected, it doesn’t feel appropriate to complain.

We will simply all have to adapt.
