Janu by Aman

In the Aman topic I read the gossip by some reliable sources that Aman is creating a second brand. While browsing the web, I came across this (excuse me, but because I haven't made 5 posts in this forum yet, I am not allowed to put the website addresses (?!)):

Janu Resorts
On that website (please Google it), they claim to be Aman's sister. So, their first hotel will open in Montenegro.

andpartnersny
The branding of Janu is by the same company that did the rebranding of Aman. If you go to their website you'll find both their branding strategy behind Aman and Janu. On the Janu page, they state that the client behind this is Aman.

elasticarchitects
These are the architects of the project and location is Sveti Stefan (Montenegro). They also claim to be behind Aman Cavtat (look at their project page)

So, I think it is too much coincidence and I believe Janu will be the 2nd Aman branch. Sorry that I can't put the website addresses in here but that seems some kind of safety measurement.

Thanks for this information, CLMNT. Montenegro is a stunningly beautiful place. Here's an article about the development:

https://andpartnersny.com/projects/janu-montenegro/

It confirms what you said about this being an Aman brand.

Janu—named after the Sanskrit word for “soul”—is a progressive, experimental, and innovative hospitality brand built by Āman for modern travelers with a passion for discovery, adventure, and living well.

The property looks large. I wonder how many rooms it will have. I'm one who likes the fewer the better.

Intriguing! Can't wait to see this evolve. I wonder positioning (at or below Aman?).

Montenegro is a stunningly beautiful location. However (I am sure I will take a ton of hate for this), but if that is near Aman Sveti Stefan, there is really only one place it can be, which is closer to Budva. And Budva these days is a totally over crowded party town (and not really all that nice... sorry Budva). There are a ton of amazing places in Montenegro, but... this one strikes me as a bit of a miss. The renderings sure do look nice however.

I can only imagine this being placed under Aman.

JANU by Aman

Looks like Aman will open a cheaper brand now: It's called JANU by Aman, seemingly something like Chedi in former Zeche times, with contemporary design and higher room count.

First resort will be in Montenegro:

I'm betting it won't be that much cheaper.

Whilst One Bedroom accommodation at Aman Sveti Stefan is between 800 and 1600 Euro in warmer season, I would think that JANU will be around half this price, like Chedi compared with Aman in the earlier years. The JANU has higher room count than the Aman, and will supossedly be more standardized.

If its same price level, there would be no need in developing and marketing a second brand!

Hasn't Aman become very standardized since the takeover? Maybe 2/3 of the same price. I don't see VD making a discount brand. Time will tell.

Aman brand has already been headed downhill BIGLY the last 5-10 years, I expect this will only speed the process.
