Taj Boston to reopen as The Newbury

I heard that the Taj Boston, formerly the Ritz-Carlton, is closing or has already closed. I assumed that this is part of the renovation project that's been underway and that it's only temporary but the main hotel website has been scrubbed and it redirects to Taj's home page and Boston has been removed from their list of properties. This site still exists(https://www.thetajboston.com/) but shows no availability nor does it offer any info on the supposed closure. I'm not an expert on the hotel industry obviously but this seemed peculiar for a temporary closure(unless a rebranding might be part of the equation?). Does anyone know for certain what's happening? This wasn't a favorite of mine but with its location and having fond memories of visits when it was the Ritz I had been hopeful that this would once again be a place worth staying.

I just saw this and had come back to update my original post. Sounds like it’s moving in the right direction. I would have preferred to see it taken on by one of the luxury chains though I’m not sure where it might have fit in. Either way, it’s improving and they’ve shed the Taj brand which probably wasn’t doing it any favors.
