I entirely agree with you on this and they have to penalize for these things as it could be more dangerous than anything else. I presume that these things normally do not happen in western europe or USA. I mean knocking on the wrong room.

I’d say this IS par for the course in London and NY. Is there a 5-star in London that isn’t infested with hookers in the bar area ?

It must happen sometimes by accident but I could easily imagine some hotels in some locations where the sex workers would literally knock on random doors hoping to find some business, presumably with hotel complicity and probably some kickbacks/bribes.

Well, as others said depends on the location.

A well know business hotel in Frankfurt has always escorts sitting in the main lobby - and concierge said to me 'that's what our business clients expect as our service'.

I have seen in certain countries in the middle east that every large hotel has at least 10-15 ladies waiting for potential customers outside the hotel's bar (in example in a 5 star hotel in a well known financial center in the region) or that there are even more waiting inside the bar (in a well known airport hotel of the same city).

In certain Asian countries with prohibited prostitution I have heard stories (well - stories) from a local colleague that the pimp of these ladies will knock on your door after the lady has left and will force you with 'either 1000 bucks or I go straight to the police'

As I said, I have no problem with these ladies as long as they are not too aggressive and the number of them is limited.

IME this is Moscow. Different hotels have different types of hookers in their bars. It can be very amusing.

I do not believe that this thread adds value to our discussions of Luxury Hotels and Travel
