Best December Holiday Stays at Luxury Hotels

Please regale us with the best holiday stays at luxury venues.

One of mine is recounted here:

Apologies for Napa typo.

might include whether any are particularly good this time of year

whether sold out with parties over holidays, or quiet low season

I was actually thinking about this recently, but specifically with respect to New Years eve festivities - have not stayed myself but Amansara would seem to be the early leader based on what has been posted.

It could. But I am interested in special holiday experiences without regard to the issues you cite. You are welcome to open a new thread.

Amansara was amazing when I visited at the end of last month, and I think the best time to visit is November/December.

My top 3 December Holiday stays in no particular order are:

Ritz London
FS Hotel George V, Paris
Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

I've heard great things about Amangani Christmas and the whole winter ski experience at Aman Le Mézélin, and will have stays at both properties very soon. Apparently Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is amazing for Christmas, and their website shows a bunch of stuff for the holidays (https://www.scottsdaleprincess.com/S...t-the-Princess)

I had a very enjoyable Christmas stay at Shangrila Tokyo before. Bellhops greeting you on the NEX platform with cute Santa hats.

A very tastefully and classy decorated lobby with a mini Stollen and mini Shangrila Santa bear waiting in the room. The only missing was a white Christmas!

i must have worded poorly, because it was re holidays
some say best holiday stay is partying with celebrities
some say best holiday stay is enjoying tranquility
(can usually tell by which luxury hotel is mentioned)

this year they are again doing new years eve temple dinner (usually exclusive-use only) , report from dec 31 2016 > https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luxury-hotels-travel/1812119-amanresorts-thread-2017-a-post27720272.html#post27720272
definitely perfect example of aman, and GM is aman veteran

Yes, that was the report I was referring to.
to date, we have not spent NYE at a hotel. I would say our favorite celebration so far has been in Venice. The city is not crazy packed and all the hotels look great decorated. We stayed at the Danieli, but spent NYE itself at Harry's Bar, full dinner and then dancing until 4am - fantastic

I thought being aboard the Seabourn Quest in Antarctica last Christmas and New Year was hard to beat. Sadly at home in the UK this year . . . but I will be roasting a goose, reared less than a mile from where I live, so it's not all bad.

Hong Kong Island from Intercontinental Hotel (Kowloon)

We've had a lovely stay at the Intercontinental Hong Kong. We booked a deluxe junior suite, specifying the room that is at the V of the hotel so with two long glass windows angled to give a full view of the harbor. Hong Kong buildings on the island side light up every night. During the holiday season, many are lit with Christmas decorations and messages. It is lovely to sit in a comfortable room, looking out at such festive decorations.

Definitely a great reason to stay on the Kowloon side.

Every thing I know about Hong Kong comes from spy novels ... so I am familiar with Kowloon side and always would stay there.

Hong Kong is amazing on New Years Eve, anyone staying should get out on a boat in Victoria Harbour.
