Best Bang-for-the-Buck Luxury Resort in Europe during Off Peak Season
Hi all
We are soon entering low / off-peak season and wondering if anyone had any suggestions for luxury resorts to target which offer deals during this period. Will be coming from ZRH and willing to travel 4+ hrs to get winter sun.
Ideally the resort would have wellness/healthy food options, gym/fitness classes, and does not require a long onward journey after arriving at the destination airport. Winter sun is important so somewhere like south Spain, Italy, Greece, etc... flexible.
Any resorts/packages you would recommend? Thanks in advance

What month are you looking at?
If the weather is still okay around the time, Amanzoe would be a great one - 4 night stays include daily half-board with stays in a pavilion with a private pool. Rates start around about ~EUR 800/night + taxes.
It's a long ride from the airport, though (although can always helicopter it if budget allows!)

I'd be reasonably wary of European weather in Jan, Feb, March especially in the "resorts". Many of them close over winter and that time of year can be cold, wet and windy which might not be conducive to your preferred activities. A luxury city hotel in one of the southern European cities might be a good option - Rome, Madrid, Athens? Alternatively, the low season is a wonderful time to see Venice without the crowds and the smell - we went in February and it was wonderful although not warm. If you want winter sun, you might be better to consider somewhere like Jordan, Dubai or Oman which are a 5/6 hour flight from ZRH.
