And aside from the rates it will be rather more interesting if they are able to deliver on Aman ethos, service and creating the magic. These rates do create expectation and quite necessary to balance the hard product.

There was never going to be Art Deco tiling or stone elephants like Rosewood Hong Kong. Fits the whole Zen Kyoto austere thing but I'm still not really a fan either.

Totally agree. We stayed in a suite at the Aman Tokyo and all of the wood left the room with an aroma that was not particularly pleasant, in addition to looking monotonous.

Rates in general appear to be much better than originally reported. I'm seeing a lot of dates with 110,000 JPY pricing which actually isn't outrageous. Across winter, spring, summer.

Those will be on the low scale - like Aman Tokyo and Amanemu they'll be shifting rates based on many factors, but primarily season and expected ocupancy levels. There's one date where the room jumps from JPY 110,000/night++ to JPY 220,000/night++.

A $4500 minimum to be there on weekends. They certainly don't lack confidence.

[2BR villa] Washigamine Pavilion...Surrounded by nature in the highest and most secluded area of the resort, the east-facing pavilion pays homage to the traditional Japanese Ryokan inn and looks over the entire garden and the Kamigame mountain range in the distance. A trekking path leads directly from the pavilion through the surrounding forest and various private meditation gardens can be found nearby.
sounds good
kaede added reservations link but not loaded yet
anyone heard if theyre planning partial opening?
min stay shows on calendar. i got images above by doing min stay during min stay period, then going back to calendar.
