who is chef concierge? no longer well regarded ex peninsula tokyo chef concierge ?
some new external hire aman GMs were true aman, unfortunate some left already
also some new external hires were not hired as GM but promoted, and doing well
clearly tokyo (and to an extent puri) are larger than most aman, so one factor
there may also be long time aman veterans below the GM / top level

Tokyo is bigger than most Amans but that doesn't mean the GM should be in her ivory tower. If it's a matter of shyness, language barrier or laziness then she shouldn't be in that chair.

From Haneda, not as straightforward, might be best to drop off your bags at the hotel or a locker first.

I saw a Japanese ramen documentary that featured Osamu Tomita; it was fascinating.
Looks like there is also an English version, but not sure where/how one can see it.

Just an update on the whole Aman Tokyo Concierge situation, so I ended up reaching out to the GM, Tomoko Yagi, she responded fairly quickly and copied the hotel manager Kenji Yui, and assured me that Kenji-san would be looking after all my requests personally.
Since then Kenji-san has replied and have been fantastic, he said he will arrange someone from his team to go grab a ticket from Tomita on the day of arrival for us, as well he has been super helpful in helping me build the rest of my itinerary during my stay as well. I would have to say that my faith in Aman Tokyo has been restored based on my interactions with Kenji-san.

Kenji Y , HM , is responsive - responsible and helpful , pleasant to relate with . Between him & Yasu A , one ‘ s AmanTokyo stay will go smoothly , not forgetting her seasoned spa director ..

I'll be in Japan for a total of 16 days and I'm looking to stay in a nice luxury hotel for my last 5 days in Tokyo. I have narrowed my choices to Andaz or Mandarin.
Which one should I select for the best experience?
- Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills (base room)
- Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo (base room)
Which one should I select for the best experience?

There are a lot of posts in the Andaz Tokyo thread in the Hyatt forum that Globalist Hyatt status or use of a suite upgrade only gets you a better regular room, not a suite. The Andaz apparently has few suites.
Even though I am a strong Hyatt supporter, I think with this two hotel choice, I'd pick the MO although I admit I have never stayed at either hotel.
