Very desirabe. Especially weekend evenings are fun when they close down the roads for traffic.

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions and advice!
I am still not entirely sure about the Sofitel in Hanoi, given I prefer modern to classic and the Lotte does look wonderful with not an all too inconvenient or undesirable location (as a point of reference, I would choose the LMO over the MOHK or Pen in HK). But assuming I chose the Sofitel, is the historic wing the only way to go? Are the opera rooms worth it?
I think I might be leaning PH in Saigon.
Thanks again.

I was also deliberating between The Reverie and PH in Saigon and ended up booking The Reverie.
Ultimately it came down to the fact that the PH experience seems like it is easy to replicate throughout SE Asia, whereas The Reverie looks to offer something quite special and very different.
It is a surprise trip for my girlfriend's 30th and I figured The Reverie had much more of a wow factor (how many hotels offer transfers in a $1m car?!). The lounge looks great, we've been upgraded to a suite thanks to my LHW status and the concierge team have been very helpful so far, replying to emails in under 12 hours each time.
I'm really looking forward to staying there and think it will serve as quite a dramatic contrast to our four night stay at Amanoi afterwards!

Hoi An - Bad choice. Intercontinental Danang is so much better in every respect.
Nha Trang - Big mistake. Go to Amanoi.
Hanoi - Metropole is a good choice.

Was looking at the Reviere website wishing I had stay coming up.and noticed they had a 3 for 2 night special. Not sure if that suits when you are going.
Their suites do look stunning.
