I’d never met Gary Tyson, Amantaka’s General Manager, before this stay, but given what he’s accomplished at Amantaka, he is someone we will now follow to whatever resort he happens to oversee. What he has done in creating service standards of the utmost polish and skill in a location where there was no former 5-star experience from which to draw, is astounding. (And if you get a chance, have him tell you about the process he went through of hiring and training new employees in a “fake Amantaka” he created to serve as a training site during the construction of the resort.) Aman resorts have spoiled many of us by setting the highest bar in the world for service and housekeeping standards, and even within this stiff competition, Amantaka rises to the very top.

I have been to many Four Season and other very high end resorts all over the world. Although they are fabulous too, there is a subtle difference between the way Aman resorts goes about taking care of their guests. They genuinely care about your well being. They never make you feel like they are doing you a favor. They have truly mastered the fine art of service to perfection.

15 years ago, when Zecha launched the Serai resort in Bali, built on land he borrowed from longtime friend Franky Tjahyadikarta, owner of Alila Hotels...sold the Serai to Tjahyadikarta, who currently runs it as the Alila Manggis. "At the time, I was too busy with Aman, and Franky wanted his land back,"
(alila corporate was also sold)

Does Aman provide full-board in their serviced villas? Or do i have to pay for food even though the villas come with a butler and chef?

‘ Normally ‘ you will decide what arrangement you want . Your preferences will be noted ; or let them know what you will like to have and just pay for what is bought from the market , etcetera , to prepare your meals .
You may want to dine out at times ..

I am sure you can agree on a full board rate, but it is not included in the rates listed. When we stayed at Pulo in a villa with chef and butler, we ordered whatever we wanted or what they suggested. Checked spendings after a few days and were positively surprised. Cannot remember any details, though.

kila only has 2BR with butler, residences planned

pulo >
Romance - half board specifically including Private Dining
Island Escape - half board

noi >
Undiscovered Amanoi - 4th nt free may be better deal, breakfast
noi + another aman (including puri) - indochina past & present - half board, laundry
Amanoi Hideaway - half board, laundry

spa house include 2 spa therapists, and 2 treatments per day
lake spa house can be 2BR plus other adjacent lake pavilion

puri >
Discover Amanpuri - half board

noi / puri >
wellness immersions are full board

so as others mentioned, can negotiate custom offering
probably easiest to do with kila actually (ernst, ian, shane)
if nusa villas before end of feb, have access to amanusa
jiwo also has 2BR with butler

some discussion >
Aman villas private chef

for puri, seems (still?) >
# 2 rafael - had great chef at one point IIRC
# 7 zecha
# 15 tuttle

Full board is not included in the rates - it can be added on as a supplement.

I emailed Amanpuri and they replied with:
Multi-bedroom Villas do not come with full board, they are staffed with a chef and you would pay cost of the food. The resort does not offer full board anywhere in Pavilions or Villas.

Think it might be the way you phrased the question. You might want to ask if it's available as a supplementary rate. There will be limitations. It most likely won't apply in the villas however, as the chef prepares what you ask for (and therefore it's charged based on food costs) but for dining within the restaurants, some Amans do offer a supplementary rate for full-board.
