As I said, the rooms are little too Sparta meets Zen for me, but the bathroom makes up for it.

Definitely one of the great city hotel pools. The gym is very well equipped. Not quite Puri, but pretty impressive for Tokyo.

Aman stays used to be simple / simpler .

Like email the GM & say we are on way .. it was done .
And all we needed to do was just appear on whatever day at the airport at whatever “ remote “ spot .
These days not only numerous emails ( sometimes calls ) with various departments involved , cc information requested , think prepayment required at some - fortunately waived I think for us , onerous .

Back then meals were straight forward , especially when it was only Puri - just show up at the Thai , Italian or Beach .
Meals were like eating at home , at least for us it was , & Amans ‘ ethos then meant for it to be precisely that , comforting . No fancy menu or high flaluting dishes .
Recently , skipping a few years in between , we have Italian becoming ARVA & Japanese - NAMA .

And just , what do we get at AmanTokyo ? Well , well , Musashi by Aman !

Then earlier this month , quite a few chefs from various Amans converged at Puri for Italian cooking and pastry sessions . Am looking forward to enjoy the results of this soon ..

How times have changed . Ethos too , even from cost cutting .

Aman began with no spa .. Trend now to have best Wellness Retreats .. ‘ Adventure & Learning Centres ‘ for the young ones , am hoping for the “young at heart “ too

Let ‘ s not get into the “ influencers “ .. which I think is all foreign to AMANjunkies of the ‘ 80s

Do see some positives though .

I'm glad you didn't let the emailing snafu get in the way of a fabulous resort and one of the truest Amans!

Busy taking Osaka marathon photos some of which you will see on another thread , let you know soon .

Think I may have mentioned in my Nusa villas June ? TR ..The villas have a varying number of pavillons which the owners decide how many to let out

AmanTokyo ‘ s is not updated either

Amanusa villas 1 , 2 , 3 , 6 & 7 are available , assume an average of 4 rooms / suites available for each villa . Although a villa may have 6 suites , 1 or 2 are only for owners ‘ s use .

oh sorry! I misunderstood the question: at jiwo I did the menorah hills hike, the bicycle around the villages excursion, and pak bilal dinner and the sunrise at Borobudur intellectual tour and sunset tour. I also did the jomblang cave excursion and Dagi hill picnic not through Aman.
I definitely recommend all the excursions I did esp. sunset at Borobudur, biking trek and pak bilal dinner
I had a pretty negative experience at Amankila (don’t wish to discuss) so I checked out early and went to Bulgari so the only thing I did there was beach dinner the first night.
